On a street at the night lightened by street lamps, two figures can be seen running.

"Now's the time to tell me your superpowers Echo." Nyx was running side by side next to Echo.

"Darkness and Night. My superpower is darkness and night. It allows me to control shadows and darkness so far, when I vanish I'm teleporting using shadows or more specific darkness but I found out I can use shadows as a median since they contain darkness, but I was able to comprehend it further allowing me to teleport without using shadows but it didn't change the duration.

When I brought the ice cream I shadow traveled, shadow traveling allows me to travel to any desired place on earth of my choosing. I can only use it three times a day, depending on the distance it makes me very fatigued. One time I accidentally shadow traveled to china and was unconscious for a week, thankfully my mom wasn't home; and also useless in combat.

Next is Umbrkanises, which allows me to mentally generate and manipulate darkness and shadows which is very limited right now as it only allows me to form weapons I can hold, so I cant make them float above me.

Next is Shadow Scape, which allows me to enter shadows, jump from shadow to shadow, and hide, I can also move in them. It's more of spying and escaping technique hence it's useless in combat. It allows me to be inside for about 15 minutes." Echo voiced out all his powers as they were still running.

"I'm sure your related abilities have also been developed as well," Nyx said.

"What do you mean 'Related Abilities'?'" Echo asked as the tapping of their feet hitting the ground resounded out.

"To be able to do everything you do it takes an immense amount of strain on your body from your reflexes, eyes, and brain. Such as your speed, reflexes, attention to detail, seeing in the dark, and so on... It's common for awakened ones to have multiple abilities." Nyx continued to explain as they ran.

"Makes sense."

"Left!"

They turned to the left entering another street.

"Where next?" Echo asked.

"Go that way!"

"How do you know this?" Echo asked.

"A hunch... I think this might be related to another awakened one. I think we would find the cat there." Nyx said as he looked up and could sense the energy in the sky leading in a certain direction.

"Another awakened one?" Echo asked in surprise.

"Yes, so you better be ready, you might have to fight him." Nyx exclaimed as they continued running.

...

In an alley, a cat can be seen walking as it turned the corner.

"There you are my little kitten... I guess you're the one missing, by reacting to my connection, you seem weaker~"

The cat looked up and saw a figure standing over him.

Exactly like someone hit the cat on the head an unpleasant memory appeared in its head.

It was stuck in a cage and the same man before him was the one who imprisoned him in a cage.

"HISSSSS!!" the cat hissed towards the man.

"I see time away gave you power and confidence, more aggressive, did the connection break during the experiment? The energy is also getting stronger" the man mumbled as he looked at the cat, while it was still hissing at him.

"Haha~ so you've awakened..." The man released a chuckle as a smirk crept onto his face.

...

Echo and Nyx just turned a corner and stopped instantly.

"Nyx is that him?" Echo asked as they both saw the cat and a middle-aged man with white hair and a black tuxedo standing in front of it.

They both hide first, behind the corner of the alley, and glanced around the corner.

"Yes... he's the awakened one..."

"Mhmm..." Echo nodded.

"He has the same energy I felt earlier, his energy was calling that cat."

As they were watching the cat, the cat leaped towards the middle-aged man.

- THUD!

The man chuckled and raised his hand, stopping the cat in mid-air before slamming him into the ground.

The cat tried getting up but due to its previous injuries, it's struggling.

The man didn't stop as the black and red energy gathered around the cat's body lifting him into the air, and as it started choking.

The man started laughing before thrusting his hand down again slamming the cat into the ground as blood splattered on the ground.

"We're not done playing yet~," the man said as the cat didn't even try getting up anymore.

...

"He's stronger than I thought..." Nyx said as he watched what was happening.

'He's flicking his wrist which is controlling his powers... no beginner can do that... his power is telekinesis?' Nyx thought while Echo remained quiet.

"Is that all?" The middle-aged man said in a mocking tone.

"His agility skills along with his durability improved more than normal cats..." the man studied the fallen cat as he tapped it with his foot.

The cat opened its eyes and stared daggers at him.

"Oh~ so your alive?"

"I want to kill him." Echo finally spoke his tone full of thick killing intent.

"!!!" Nyx became alert when he heard Echo.

"Don't be foolish," Nyx replied.

"I'm not. Do you think I'm stupid? I know he's stronger than me, just because I want to kill him doesn't mean I'm gonna attack him. I can teleport, especially with his guard down." Echo said in a serious tone.

"Your not wrong, when you teleport it's instant. Though you only have one chance... if you miss it your dead, if he catches you, you cannot beat him. Fighting an animal is different than fighting an awakened one, especially one as skilled as him." Nyx unknowingly started lecturing him.

"Yes rise! rise show your will and power!" The man said as the at started getting up albeit a little wobbly before it started hissing.

"That's dissapointing~ You're not attacking? Are you afraid?" the man said.

The cat started running away trying to escape.

"Not so fast..."

He raised his hand and the black and red energy gathered around the cat stopping it as it flew into the air. He flicked his wrist and threw it towards a wall slamming it.

- BRRR...

- BRRR...

The cat fell to the ground as the energy lingered before it dissipated and blood covered the cat's body as it lay on the floor.

"Such a pity I was expecting so much more, but hey tests are tests no matter how little the result. Now your time is finished I have no value for you anymore~" The middle-aged man said as he started walking towards the cat.

"I'll take that chance no matter how small." Echo finally decided.

"You are insane.." Nyx mumbled as he stared at Echo.

"Well you have a chance, even with your teleportation he won't notice your movements until you're right in front of him. Just be careful."

"Huh? someones worried about me~," Echo said in a slightly mocking tone.

"Your foot! Who's worried! I'm not!" Nyx shot back.

"I'll be fine, I want to save that cat." Echo said with a determined gaze.

".." Nyx stared at Echo's face dumbfounded slight admiration just a sliver.

"Wish me luck..." Echo said before he took a deep breath before he walked into the wall right next to him and disappeared in the shadow.

'That's certainly interesting... but the man is right in front of the cat already. He might not be able to get away.' Nyx thought as he shifted his gaze.

The man was leisurely walking towards the cat a few feet away.

'Mhm? the man thought in confusion as a teen covered in a cloak appeared right behind the cat.

"!! Who's this!? How did he get here? He's taking the sample!" the man thought in confusion and anger as Echo already had the cat in his arms.

Before he could even use his powers Echo disappeared right in front of him.

"He's gone!? HOW!" The man yelled as his right arm was barely halfway from attacking.

He started looking all over trying to find him.

He looked at the spot where he once was with anger before he calmed down.

"Maybe a tracker? Fuck how did a tracker find me?" the man rubbed his face in irritation.

"I need to be more careful, and I need to leave before more trackers appear." With that, he jumped in the air and disappeared going from building to building.

...

A few streets away three figures exited the wall.

"Huff... huff..."

Echo was breathing slightly unevenly while he was carrying both the cat and Nyx before he put Nyx down.

"Nyx, We did it!" Echo yelled excitedly.

"We? What do you mean we, idiot!" Nyx shot back as he lay on the floor.

"Now he knows we exist! You're in danger now, a lot of danger. Hey? Hey, are you listening" Nyx tried to give a lecture.

"I couldn't just leave the cat to die." Echo said after calming his breathing and started walking.

"What?" Nyx said with a narrowed gaze as he stood up and followed Echo

"I mean I couldn't just let him die when I knew I could save him..." Echo replied.

"..." Nyx stared at Echo with widened eyes.

"Hahaha~!" Echo started laughing in joy.

"Don't laugh fool!"

'He's so weird, from smart to stupid, calm to happy, I can't tell what he's thinking or going to do.' Nyx thought as they walked the street leisurely.

'I didn't think he would succeed. He was right in front of the guy... He teleported more quickly than I expected, he couldn't even react less alone attack...'

"Nyx, I know it's weird given our current situation but I'm so excited!" Echo released a chuckle.

"Excited?" Nyx was surprised hearing Echo saying that.

"Yeah... It was fun and adrenaline-pumping! I realized I shouldn't hide my powers, hiding my power wasn't the problem.

I did something useful with my powers no matter how insignificant it was. Hence my excitement!" Echo started laughing.

"You're weird! It's nothing to be excited about!" Nyx tried swiping at Echo playfully.

"Hahaha~"

"Shut up will you."

- SLAAMMM!!!

"Fuck! I lost the sample." a figure was seen slamming his fist on a desk.

"I worked so hard, and so long to make that sample." the man from before said, there was a teenager the same age as Echo a few feet away from him standing silently.

The teenager was a bit shorter than Echo, with short grey hair, and grey fish-like eyes with a pale complexion; could be considered handsome but definitely above average.

"Eun, there might be a tracker on our tail." the middle-aged man said as he looked down at the table.

"The sample was solen, it was a success but I couldn't find the tracker. We need to leave so we can snip our tail and shake off the trackers but we can't leave a successful potential breakthrough.

We need to re-run tests on experiments using the previous data and looked for the escaped sample. Proceed with caution." The man said with a defeated tone.

"Understood, Professor," Eun said as he was staring at the floor.
