A hushed silence fell between them as they absorbed the weight of Maria's revelation. Then, Maria mustered the courage to speak again. "I guess now he might be scared of me."
Alisha smiled reassuringly, placing a comforting hand on Maria's shoulder. "It's okay. You should tell him the truth; he will understand."
Maria glanced up at Alisha, gratitude radiating from her eyes, and impulsively pulled her into a warm hug. "Thanks."
Returning the embrace, Alisha chuckled affectionately. "Haha, you're such a cutie, Maria."
Blushing, Maria replied softly, "So are you, Aly."
As they separated, Alisha's curiosity resurfaced, and she arched an eyebrow. "By the way, how did you meet him?"
Maria looked down, bashful and sheepish. "I met him at a bar... Well, I didn't know he lived in the same apartment building as us. When I woke up at his place, I realized he was our neighbor."
