Alisha's chest tightened with fear as she recognized Rayyan. She knew he was not someone to be taken lightly and didn't want to get on his bad side. A sinking feeling filled her stomach, and she quickly tried to hide behind her desk, hoping he wouldn't notice her.
The atmosphere in the room grew tense, and Alisha felt it like a weight on her shoulders. She held her breath, waiting for Rayyan to speak, but he walked straight past her without even glancing in her direction. As he disappeared into one of the offices, the tension slowly dissipated, leaving Alisha feeling relieved but still on edge.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Alisha noticed the curly-haired guy staring at her suspiciously. "What's up?" she asked, trying to appear calm.
"Why are you so relieved as soon as Mr. Rayyan gets into the room?" he replied, eyeing her with suspicion.
Alisha looked away quickly, hoping to avoid his probing gaze. "Me? No way," she laughed nervously. "I don't even know him."
Scratching his chin thoughtfully, the guy muttered to himself, "Well, yeah, he's the new CEO. There's no way you wouldn't know a guy like him."
Alisha's annoyance grew as she realized he was talking loudly enough for her to hear. "Does he know I can hear him?" she thought irritably.
Suddenly, the word "CEO" hit her like a ton of bricks. "What do you mean, the new CEO? Wasn't Mr. Chen Harrington the CEO of our company?" she asked urgently.
The guy looked amused as he replied, "No, weird girl. I mean, yeah, he was, but now it's the newly appointed CEO, Rayyan Grace, from the Grace Family."
Recalling Julia's mention of the merger of Fashionista Couture, Alisha's mind raced. "Is he that devil guy?" she blurted out, unable to contain her curiosity.
The guy smirked, replying dramatically, "Heh, yeah, it is him. The badass Devil of the fashion industry."
Intrigued, Alisha leaned in closer and asked, "Why is he called the devil?"
The guy leaned back in his chair, lowering his voice. "I've heard he lives alone in the Devil Apartment," he said ominously.
Rolling her eyes, Alisha said skeptically, "Are you for real?"
The guy raised his hands defensively, saying with a grin, "I'm serious! Dan never replies! Don't you know anything about the world!?"
Dismissing him with a wave of her hand, Alisha got back to work, tossing some extra papers in the bin. "Yeah, yeah, Dan, Rayyan Grace is the devil," she blurted out. The guy tried to say something else, but Alisha ignored him.
Suddenly, she heard a cold, familiar voice behind her say, "Oh, really."
Panic shot through Alisha as she realized the man she had just been discussing was now standing right behind her. Slowly turning around, her heart pounding in her chest, she saw Rayyan Grace himself.
His expression was cold and distant, and Alisha couldn't help but feel intimidated by him. She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself, but her nerves were getting the best of her.
Rayyan's eyes were fixed on her, and she felt like he was reading her every thought. "You do love to belittle me, Miss," he said, his voice icy and controlled.
A shiver ran down Alisha's spine.
