Don't stare at her like that

Standing by the foot of her bed was the same girl she had seen the previous day. Now that she looking at her in close approximation, her features were even more clearer. The girl looked around eighteen, her deep black hair flowing down hair shoulder in rough waves. Her skin was smooth and pale without any bruises expect the deep cut on the left side of her forehead that had turned blue.

"Can you see me?"

The girl's question snapped Leah thought from her thoughts but she did not reply immediately. Ghosts had never followed her to her house before, in fact had they never gawked at her like this girl did yesterday.

"Hello, can you hear me," the ghost girl asked again, snapping her fingers to get Leah's attention even though Leah was obviously staring at her.

When Leah did not still respond, a weak, down casted sigh escaped from the ghost's lips.

"Yes, I can see you," Leah finally replied.

This ghost girl did not look as scary as the others Leah had encountered in the past, that is the reason why she even replied her.

The ghost eye's immediately lit up, like she had just seen life again.

"You can actually see me!" The ghost girl exclaimed, chuckling happily. "I've been trying to talk to people for three days now, but no body ever responds to me. When I saw you yesterday, I knew you were the one."

Leah stared at the ghost girl with a confused look, not understanding her last statement.

"What do you mean by you knew I was the one?"

"You're the one who will help me cross over..."

The girl vanished before she could even finish her statement.

Leah blinked a few times before scanning around the room to ensure that the girl was really gone. A deep sigh of relief escaped her lips before she fell back on the bed. She left the lights on so that if the girl should reappear again she would see her.

The last words the ghost said kept lingering in her head before she eventually fell asleep.

...

After awaking from yet another nightmare, Leah decided to go out for a morning run to clear her head. After running for some time, she took a break to catch her breath. She did not go too deep into the woods because she was afraid of getting lost. From where she stood, she could still sight the mansion.

She just squat down to tie her shoes lace when she heard a soft thug behind her, like something landed from the trees.

"Need a hand?"

Leah immediately turned back to the source of the voice. She could not see the person's face properly but she already knew who it was — it was William. She turned her attention back to her shoes.

"I'm fine," Leah replied as she tied her shoe laces before standing up. "What are you doing out here?"

"Your shoes laces are not properly tied," William said instead of answering her question.

Leah glanced at her shoes, she could not see the laces in the dark, but she was sure that they properly tied. She faced William, about to reply him that her laces were properly tied but before she could even utter a word, he was already squatting in front of her.

His sudden quick movement startled her a bit.

"May I?" William asked, even though his hands were already on the shoe laces.

Not waiting for a reply William began to loose the first shoe lace, his fingers moving in a delicate rhythm.

"I was hunting," William said, replying to the question Leah had asked before.

"Hunting?" Leah repeated, finding it strange that he was hunting for animals, unless he meant something else.

"I am not like other vampires, Leah." William looked up at her. "I don't drink human blood. I sustain myself through other means."

"I thought all vampires needs human blood to survive?" Leah inquired because based what she had heard about vampires, they couldn't survive without human blood.

"Blood is blood, Leah. Weather it is from a soft little bunny or an arrogant selfish human, it is still blood or food rather," William chuckled softly before standing up. "All done," he said, referring to her shoe laces.

"Um... Thanks," Leah said, even though she didn't really think what he did was necessary.

"You're welcome," William responded with a dramatic bow.

The whether had begun to brighten, so she could see his face more clearly now. Leah decided to head back, as she moved she noticed that William was trailing behind her but she did not comment on it.

"It's dangerous to walk in the woods alone in the dark," William suddenly said.

"Why?" Leah asked, glancing at him.

"Because the wolves are always hungry these days. "

Leah stopped her movement, her eyes going wide.

"There are wolves out there?" She asked to which William nodded.

"They are Alex's pets. He loves those little devils."

"Oh." Leah resumed walking still a little bit shocked by the new knowledge.

To think that she had just wondered off into the woods the other day.

The sun was starting to peak through the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the atmosphere.

From the corner of her eyes, Leah noticed that William was staring at her intently, but she decided to ignore his obvious gawking.

"Your hair looks pretty under the sunlight," William commented, his eyes still focused on her.

With the way he was staring at her, one would think that he might actually trip and lose his balance.

Leah glanced at him with a slightly raised brow.

"Thanks," she simply replied.

William nodded and faced forward. He did not stare at her again till they reached the mansion.

Alexander was standing at the foyer, sipping the content in the tea cup I'm his hand, when he saw them approaching. His eyes narrowed a little when they settled on Leah.

Last night, due to Grace's behavior he did not have the time to fully notice the change in Leah's hair.

Leah uttered a good morning to him when she got to where he stood which he responded to, she waved at William before entering the house.

Alexander gave William a sharp glare when he noticed how William was staring at Leah was she walked away even till she was no longer in his sight.

"I hope Lucius doesn't see you staring at her like that," Alexander commented, which gained William's attention as he finally glanced at him.

"What do you mean by that?" William tilted his head, trying to play dump even though he already understood what Alexander meant.

"You know what I mean." Alexander gave him a serious look. "Lucius will pluck out your eyes if he ever sees you staring at her like that."

"Relax, Alex. Don't you think you're getting a little bit far with your thoughts?" William asked, a small smile tugging the corners his lips.

Alexander simply looked away from him without giving a reply to his question. His had a meaningful look in his eyes, like he was being thoughtful but yet wasn't thinking about anything in particular.

"They may look the same but Leah isn't her, William."

What Alexander said seemed to upset William as the smile on his lips immediately vanished.

"I know that. I can obviously see the difference," William said, a little bit upset before walking away.

Whoever Alexander had referred to, obviously held some importance to William.
