Chapter Ten_Hands-on Clues

When the Petroleum Minister's wife was shrieking at her dying husband, Detective Kesley had stood immobile, watching the chaotic scene.

When the mad rush of screams and pushing bodies started, he had ignored the frightened crowd, but casually lighted a cigar, and smoked happily.

"Voila," he thought, "The clues he needed to nab the elusive killer, had appeared before his eyes."

His behaviour might seem cold to an outside observer, but Detective Kesley knew with his sharp eyes that the Petroleum Minister was already dead.

The assassin was a dead shot.

He waited patiently, enduring the pig-like wails of the dead man's wife, till the policemen and ambulances arrived.

Then he moved from his spot.

After due introductions, he got to work, collecting blood samples and the bullets embedded in the body of the dead man.

Next he demanded footage of the security cameras in the vicinity, for the day.
