Chapter One_A Hot Case

The Criminal Investigative Department of Fourth Bay Police Station, buzzed as usual with much noise and activity.

Deputy Chief Kant stood busy in his office, engaged in a very important phone call, while Officers Paul and David stood at alert, waiting for further instructions.

Deputy Kant finally finished with his phone call. Then hung up, and looked at his men.

"We've got a large one in our hands," he said in a stern tone.

"A high profile case," he continued.

"Mr Turner was the Chief Special Adviser to the Governor, on Interior Affairs.

"Now he's dead and the Governor wants answers. Fast." He paused to look around, and screwed up his face some more.

"I've got the whole department already cracking, but Paul, you will be my liaison with other departments. Whatever important information you dig up, let me know.

"David, you will man this office. Take charge of every necessary thing in my place.

"I'm going to have a meeting with the Police Commissioner, and other government officials.

"Hopefully, this case shall be resolved quickly."

Finished speaking, Deputy Chief Kant nodded to his two right-hand men, and marched off to their salutes.

The two officers remained in that position, and relaxed when they heard the sound of the door close.

Outside the sprawling police building, Deputy Chief Kant got into one of the stationed cars, and sped off to his destination.

The anxiety in his mind drifted out like hot sweat, from his pores, as he stepped hard on the accelerator.

He earnestly hoped, that this would not be like one of those cases.
