Celeste POV
I look at the iron gate, pausing; I sniff the air and listen to my surroundings. What is with the air around here? It feels stiff like the aura is dark and murderous. I wouldn’t say I like this, and this feeling in my heart makes me on edge.
I shake my head and run towards another tree closer to the gate. I spot an entrance that leads to the forest; I look around one more time before I dash to it.
Gasping, I see at least 20 wolves sprinting into the trees from the campsites. I see two men walking in their human forms.
I sneak closer to eavesdrop on their conversation; I need to see what’s going on.
“Do you think it’s true? Do you think Zayden is dead?”
My heart is pounding so hard that I can hear it aloud. Zayden can’t be dead! That is not true, please no. Please don’t be dead, Zayden. Sadness erupts through my body; my wolf is crying.
I jump out from my hiding spot and pounce at the two men; one lets out a scream.
