Beast Wave 2

Sweat dripped down Blue's face, and his face beat red from the heat. He made the shovel mold with Jafar. Now it was time for Blue to fill the iron mold and sharpen the tool. Blue carefully poured in the liquid metal, doing his best to make the best shovel possible.

Dirknooth gathered several logs throughout the night, so Jon and George could start the development of the walls. The two of them obtained the skill Construction. With the new skill, the movements became faster, and soon the walls around their building began to take shape.

Mary didn't waste any time to spread the news. A player who was a prior hunter, but changed to a farmer came to talk to Jon.

"Mary told me your name is Chou?"

"Yes, I arrived with the first group to Grass Village and was the only Hunter who survived. Since then, I became a farmer and never left the village. The monsters out there killed everyone." The man began to break down, crying. It was a traumatic experience seeing all his comrades die.

"I'm sorry. I watched several people die next to me too." It went silent for a long time, but then Chou said something that caught Jon off guard, "What can I do to help?"

"Do you have any useful skills?"

"I can grow plants faster." Chou pointed to the wall and said, "I can quickly grow some vines to re-enforce them. I can also help that monster of yours gather logs."

Jon was glad for the help he was worried no one would come over. "Thank you, Chou. We could use all the help we can get."

As afternoon snuck upon them, The four of them finished working on the wall. They decided to take a break and eat. Dirknooth started grilling a RockBeak he killed in the forest. Mary came over to help since she felt like she did much today. Dirknooth gave Jon a look.

"Dirknooth, let her help."

The hobgoblin sighed and let her take over the cooking. Sulking, Dirknooth responded, "Fine, I'll go dig some traps until its ready."

"Did I do something to upset him?" asked Mary.

"Don't worry about it. He said you could finish cooking."

"Okay, I will do my best," Mary said in a cheery tone. She was glad to help.

After roasting the bird, the four humans and hobgoblin ate their fill. Jon knew they would need more food.

"I'm going to go out hunting this evening. Dirknooth, continue working on the traps. More the better in this situation. George and Chou, go over the walls and make sure there aren't any weak areas. Mary, try equipping a goblin spear and practice with it. We are going to need all the help we can get."

Surprisingly Chou spoke up, "I can recruit Pedro. He was that shirtless simpleton on your first day here. He might not look it, but he's pretty tough."

"Sounds good," replied Jon. He gathered up his daggers and realized Blue had his iron dagger. He then headed into the nearby woods to hunt. The others went to work quickly with the threat of beast wave looming over them.

Jon climbed a tree and threw a piece of RockBeak meat on the ground and waited. RockBeaks were omnivores but preferred meat over plants. Two birds came quickly with the scent of fresh meat. They circled the area and sensing no danger landed on the ground to eat the free meal. Two precise daggers flew down at them, killing them. Jon jumped down and smiled at his fresh catch. Pulling out his knives, he spotted a mushroom in the corner of his eye. He popped it into his mouth to see if it was edible.

"Well, not going to feed those to anyone." He threw the two birds over his shoulder and heard the bush rustle nearby. Jon knew it was the rodent whos been following him. He rips off the RockBeak's leg and throws it into the brush. Jon then makes his way back to the village. This time he pays attention to the ground to see if he can find any edible herbs. He ends up discovering two just off the side of the road. One has healing properties and is called Nirvana Grass. The other is Bloated Root. Eating it makes the consumer feel full for a full day. Arriving back to the tiny fortress, Jon knew come morning this place would be a battlezone. Little did they know when the game said the next day it wouldn't be morning, but midnight.
