One After Another!

Of course, it's not like the giant wolf could understand my words. As soon as I went into a battle pose, it pounced directly toward me while its maws opened wide.

Was it planning to bite my body in half again? Or was it going to eat me right now? Either way, it's not like I would allow it to succeed.

"Fuck off!"

I swung the sword in my hand horizontally, aiming at the spot where its neck would move. The giant wolf saw my movement and adjusted its body midair, with its fangs now heading for my sword instead.

*TING!*

The tough yellow fangs and the silver blade clashed, but neither side relented. Since the enemy was backed by a running start and a jump, I should be at a disadvantage, but given my level 11 strength, it was a piece of cake.

"Get the hell out of my face!"

Seeing that the sword couldn't move an inch, nor was the wolf gaining on me, I decided to attack with something else instead. I sent a side-kick aiming for its eyes, my leg flicking at a speed that was almost untraceable by the naked eye.

*BAM!* *WHINE!*

It staggered, visibly dizzy, after receiving a kick to its eyeballs. For the first time after the start of our battle, it finally showed emotions: fear.

As if finding out the difference between our strengths, the giant wolf didn't hesitate and turned around, planning to escape. It was a comical sight to see such a large mutt turn around with its tail between its legs and whine while running away.

"Don't you dare run from me!"

But, of course, I wouldn't let it get away. I kicked off the ground, cracking the asphalt as I propelled myself forward. Using the momentum of my leap, I waved the sword in my hand and slashed.

*SHIIING!*

A clean cut!

The giant wolf's back leg was cut off as it lost balance, smashing face-first against the ground. It quickly tried to stand back up, as if not realizing what happened to its hind leg, and tried to run, but it was too late.

"Checkmate!"

In one swing, I cut off the back of its neck, with my sword sinking deep enough that the spine was snapped off. Blood splattered as the wolf's body fell; not a single sound came from it anymore.

"..."

It's dead... right? As if to confirm my thoughts, a notification window popped out.

[Congratulations! You have slain a Fenrinne!]

With the notification's appearance, I finally heaved a sigh of relief. The system wouldn't make a mistake in judging if the enemy is alive or dead, after all.

Gaining a bit of respite, I turned to look at the other team. They were working together in perfect sync, as if they were one living being. The soldiers with non-psychic skills were surrounding the giant wolf, not letting it get out of the "net" that they created, with the two ability users showering it with attacks.

It was a gradual process, much slower than what I expected, but they were slowly killing the giant wolf without suffering any setbacks or injuries. About three minutes later, the wolf finally succumbed to losing too much blood and crashed down.

Now that it was immobile, the soldiers raced to stab it with their weapons, while the two ability users hit it with their finishing blow, covering it with water and freezing it completely, just like in the past.

"So that's how they did it?" I nodded my head in awe of their teamwork. "I bet they would gain almost equal experience from that."

That was also one of the reasons why I didn't participate in their hunt. If I killed it, most of the experience would go to me, and that small amount of EXP wouldn't be beneficial to me at all. But to the others, who were all level 1, it should still be quite a treat.

"Great work, everyone. Rest up while you can. Recovery troops, gather the two corpses, and bring them back to Selen for processing."

Major Lucas's voice echoed from the radio once more. Since he ordered for us to rest, there's no way I wouldn't take up the offer... or not.

I turned to my right and muttered. "There's about a hundred small presences approaching right now from the east..."

They should be green-ranked monsters, but still, their numbers could pose a threat. I quickly grabbed my radio and reported what I detected, mainly to the watchtower, for confirmation.

"Corporal Hvir to Watchtower. Can you check the eastern end? I could feel monsters approaching from there. Over."

A brief moment of silence spread before, finally, the radio came to life, bringing in the voice of the one manning the watchtower. "This is Watchtower. We have no visuals of any monsters. Over... wait... I, I see something! Little green men!"

'Goblins!'

I had a hunch it would be those! After all, goblins were the number one enemy of this camp! They come in droves and always launch coordinated attacks, as if besieging the camp.

Since we were talking in an open channel, everyone else also heard what he said. In an instant, the soldiers that took down the giant wolf stood up, readying their swords and riot shields, before facing the east.

I also decided to walk closer to them. After all, even though they should be able to handle it, a hundred isn't a small number. "Accidents" might happen.

"The little green men are approaching! Distance: 100 meters to the east of the north gate!"

With the watchtower giving clear directions and distance, everyone tensed up. A few moments later, the enemies came within visible range.

As his words described it, the goblins looked like little green men with large heads and sharp ears and eyes. Dirty, ragged claws on their hands, with some holding wooden clubs. They looked fearsome, like straight out of someone's nightmare. However, they're small. About half a meter tall on average.

"Incoming!"

Seeing the enemy approach, I also pulled out my sword and prepared for the oncoming battle.

When there are goblins around, who are you gonna call?

Goblin Sl-! No, wait...
