The War Song of Godfrey Part 1

Excitement, fear, pain, regret, and doubt these were a few of the things I felt at the end. Who am I you ask well my name is Godfrey Feron and this is what my end was like. A few days ago ever since Flintwood's capture, the guards were approved to use excessively lethal force much greater than the standard amount. The new prisoner Flintwood was worthy of that much attention at minimum.

The new weapons came right along side Flintwood who was dragged away on chains to the lowest level of the prison. After receiving are new weapons everyone felt confident, they thought themselves ready, but those were the few who hadn't been to the deepest parts of the sea. They were those who reality showed how under prepared they were.

I worked at that prison for seven years I've seen all manner of hell yet till the last moment of my life I never truly knew what hell looked like. What vicious monsters inhabited it, what walked amongst us, inhabited our world, what we had been fighting for generations.

It's only just now sunk in with kind of monsters the world Navy have been fighting. We struggled Against One yet they fight against thousands every day. Those people are true heroes if that is so then what am I?

When the blood curdling roar came rampaging down the hall I took up my gun along with many others rushing towards danger to meet the threat. I hunkered down behind pre-made barricades in case of such an event and I fired the moment that beast reared its ugly head.

I felt an indescribable sense of primal fear when it came towards us despite it's injuries. I felt it's hunger, I felt the pain, and worst of all I felt it's indifference. Even with the second rocket shot it was just more of the same. Around me the other guards Despite their desperate wailing to follow orders they didn't fully understand.

But I understood and I do believe the others quickly followed. We understood that we cannot win. We understood how weak we were. We understood that very moment when the beast started walking and raised its hand pointing a red scaly finger towards us that we were seconds from death.

My heart palpitated ready to burst out of my chest. I can feel my blood flowing through me. I could see the beast controlling his own. Wrapping them into needles and launching them at us with incredible force. At the cusp between life and death time slowed for me. I felt the call of the reaper and I saw it's instrument of death.

Though I saw it I could not avoid it with my own ability. The needles of blood moved faster then I can move my own body. With mere seconds left to live I did what any normal man would have done. I succumb to fear I let it wash over me. I felt weak in my body to the point my knees buckled under my own weight and gravity helped with the rest.

The blood needles charged ripped through my leg separating flesh from bone leaving a gory hole in my thigh. It was a horrendous wound one that made me wail even louder then when I was a baby. My voice strained for my cries, but at least I could for I was only one left alive. I knew that I would never forget this moment because it was the moment fear saved my life. People speak about never giving into fear well now I spit on those people. I say give into your fears, give in because not everyone is strong. Pretend to not feel fear as much as you'd like because everyone needs a mask just don't live life by fear or else you'll end up like me another man afraid of what's really out in the world.

After tumbling on the ground I fell on my comrades corpses they were in short of a better word eviscerated. They were more pulp than men even the broken wall that now hung their lifeless bodies on full display look better than them.

Snot and tears ran down my face as I waited for the beast to finishing me off. A Grace that never came because the creature turned around. Not from lack of interest but because a new group came running down the hall. After hearing these men approach I couldn't stay idle because I knew those men were rushing towards their deaths.

" RUN! ... go back you must flee!"

My words didn't even have the chance to fully sink in because Flintwood was already on the move. He conjured a spear of blood above him and through it at the approaching guards down the opposite hallway with even greater force then he sent the blood needles flying at his own group.

Those guards didn't even have the chance to comprehend how they all died but I did. I saw how the center most guard was knocked off his own feet and sent flying backwards into the air. In ways I cannot even begin to comprehend the blood he was struck with was quickly absorbed and deformed his body mid-flight.

I watched as that guard's scream was twisted and contorted just as his own flesh before exploding like a grenade. Bone fragments became shrapnel launching into skulls spilling gray matter onto the walls. No one's body could handle the force they're all blasted away some into pieces others in more.

Stains that's what was left along with a putrid stench and a site that made me want to hurl. In mere moments so many of us were dead. Without even trying it stripped me of my will power. This sight, this horrible monster after seeing these things I couldn't help but ask why? Why does such a thing exist? Why does God allow it? Why plague our world? Do we not deserved to be saved by god? God damn it tell me where is our hero?

As these thoughts came forth the puddle of people I used to work with moved. They're flesh and blood flowed together forming a vortex. Flintwood moved his hands like conducting an orchestra. They danced with such grace and refined movements one can instantly know the Untold hours of practice one had put into it.

By the end of Flintwood's masterpiece a horrible abomination made from rhe writhing flesh and blood of all who just died. This creature moaned, it screamed, it spoke with the tongue of man and with it it's called out for help. This bulbous creature was the stuff of nightmares. I cannot tell if it was dead or living. If it really felt pain or if it was just a lie to distill horror. All I know is that it shouldn't exist and if something like that was following his orders then god have mercy on us all.

With a Bestial tongue, Flintwood spoke, "go kill as many as you can".

After those words that's giant pulsating malignant tumor walked off with thundering steps to complete this task by the time it's turn down the hole in search of its first pray I could only wonder how many would fall to that things claws.

I didn't have to wait long because with the first shriek I knew it's had found its first prey. Following the shriek was a loud boom and the crackle of fire. The hall on the other side was ablaze with a glorious golden flame.

The crackle of the fire drowned out the shrieks of the abomination and became the background music for the approach of my savior. Unperturbed by the fire a man wearing thick leather boots cast in iron took center stage. His brown jeans paired well with his tweed shirt. He had a strong five o'clock shadow and a strong chin. The man had a mid fade haircut and he looks slightly pissed about everything around him. This man was Jasper Mendoza and he was the best shot we currently had at stopping Flintwood.
