Chapter 24: Mistress of Two

Jake and I walk down the lonely street, my apartment building just now coming into view.
Marcey had been hesitant to leave him alone with me, but she had to report our latest findings to Indiana before sunrise. So, that left Jake the responsibility of walking me home, despite my many protests.
Neither of them seems to get the whole, “Leave me alone. I can take care of myself,” bit. I finally gave up when Marcey threatened to feed me a sleeping potion to ensure I wouldn’t get myself into trouble. I’m fairly certain running into John again is listed under “trouble.”
I wanted to ask if it’s possible for two shifters to bond with the same person, but it seemed like a silly question. They can’t, right? Surely not.
“You’re quiet,” Jame comments as we cross the street.
“What’s there to say?” I ask, opening the lobby door.
“I dunno. Maybe talk about the weather or something?”
I roll my eyes and chuckle. “Sure. It’s dark and wet outside. What’s next?”
