The Court Of Justice

[Unedited]

I would like to apologize for the late chapter, I have been really busy lately again...

************************************

Pain, terror and anguish. This was not supposed to happen. I am the strongest of the 3 popes of justice. How could this be?

Malcium red eyes glared in pure anguish at the darkness. "Run. Carol. Run" He watched as his nephew ran for his life. His figure disappearing into the distance.

This wasn't even a fight. It was a massacre.

In front of him was a partially awaken old god, the real one was definitely a thousand times scarier than the legends. Those legends obviously underplay the might of these old gods. Had I known that one was sealed in this low tier kingdom, I wouldn't have come here.

I would've taken my nephew and brought him to a safe house. Why must this happen? Damn it, nothing is working against this old god. My light fades in the darkness. The light always shines in the deepest and darkest of times? No, it doesn't. I can confirm that it doesn't.

Dimmer and dimmer the tiny light on his staff dims. I can see no way of winning this, there is no hope left for me. I prayed, I prayed. It wasn't that my prayers couldn't reach him. My prayers did reach the Ood of Justice, only that they were rejected.

He rejected me. Why of all times? Don't you see that one of the greatest enemies of the gods has broken through the seal? Why are you rejecting me? Are you using me as a pawn of a much bigger plan? What are you planning?

Did he know all along?

I was here for the demigod of Dusk and instead found a much more significant threat.

"Oh mortal. Your despair tastes truly great."

[Oh light of justice, rid off all evil, Purify] A blast of light came from Malcium's staff, only to fade away almost instantly.

"You look puzzled."

"Tell me why. Why is it that my light cannot harm you? Are those legends false?"

"As a reward for your resilience, I will answer this one question. Yes, those legends are true. But it is also true that we have evolved. Now, arcane magic is incapable of harming us."

Cold sweats pour heavily down his wrinkled face. This was no longer about just him dying or the fate of the Temple of Justice, this is about the future of all living beings. The old gods being immune to the Arcane magic, just how much damage would this cause? Most gods have been relying on the Arcane based system... If this is true, the gods cannot win...

I must find a way to warn them. Please answer my call. He prayed will all his heart and mind, only to be cut off with understandable silence. Ah, whatever... I have tried everything... At least my nephew is safe.

This was his last thought as the entirety of his body was devoured.

The sun has set, it is Dusk now. It looks like the Omnigod has already detected my presence. I will be erased soon at my current state. Thousands of eyeballs floated in the air. It was Z'rax the old god of a million eyes.

As careless as ever Omnigod... leaving these much mortals for me. The entire south of the human continent is sealed off to contain me. These much souls are enough to turn me into a partial awakened state. And in an incomplete awakened state, I should be able to escape into my original territory.

Tentacles as tall as the tallest skyscrapers rise from the ground, eyeballs were embedded in them taking the place of the octopus suckles. It has begun.

Screams and chaos enveloped the South of the human continent. Political struggles, and what not. All have been wiped clean in front of Z'rax. Blood mixed in the air.

Ah, it has been a long time since I felt this energetic. Now-now-now, let me enjoy that demigod of Dusk.

A chained muscular man was left hanging in the centre of the temple. His Archpriest Jacob was dead. His body left rotting in the moonlight. Grunts and huffs, sounded from the centre as he struggled to break free.

"Damn it, I planned this for centuries. WHO ARE YOU TO DO THIS?" He howled at the old god.

"Mortals really do like to make so many noises." The old god's tentacles curled around. "Your century of planning is insignificant compared to my slumber for a million years."

"I am no mortal. I'M A GOD!"

"You are a god?! You are just a mortal playing god. Your purpose now is to satisfy me."

"STOP! What do you want? Just let me live, please." The demigod of Dusk finally relented.

"What do I want? Hmm, I want you to despair." Laughter echoed as the tentacles tightened, effectively strangling him, leaving him with only little breathing space. The struggle lasted until Dawn, the sun rises giving us sight to the bloody battlefield. The ground was dyed red and corroded, the stench of blood floated all around the former Kingdom of Dusk.

Delicious, now for the other country, the empire of Dawn... Ironic, it falls on Dawn.

It seems that only the Princess of Dusk, her knight and slaine managed to escape, but that does not matter. The entire southern of the human continent is his to take.

The chimes of bells of echo, the golden gates creaked open. The gods entered. This was the centre of the Human Continent. A large court building is in located at the centre.

Most gods meet every 10 years for a meeting to decide on new rules or judge a sinner. This year, however, there was something more important. This time all gods were attending.

This was due to the Omnigod who declared that all gods were to enter the courtroom this year. Thus all gods dare not disobey. This time, the entire of the Omnigod's legion of gods were present.

Tidily and organised they entered the courtroom. As usual, everyone went to their assigned seats. Only a few seats were left blank. And one of those seats belongs to Dan (as written on the stone seat, Lord of Chaos and Order).

The Omnigod sat on a throne with a large hammer, "Begin the Court."

"Very well great lord." The God of Justice greeted. He was the one in charge of handling matters in the court.

While this is called the court of justice, the Judge decides everything based on the arguments. The members of the court would raise out current issues and methods to resolve them. The judge would then finalised the decision. This time the Omnigod would be the judge for this court session.

"I guess that all of you have heard of the news, an old god has appeared in the southern part of the Human Continent."

The gods chatter as the God of Justice describes the severity of the issue.

"According to our sources, someone has broken a seal. A seal that sealed the old god. And this must be investigated. The perpetrator must not be allowed to roam freely. This is a blatant insult to the Omnigod. Luckily the alliance of light have found an extremely likely suspect. And that is- *snapped*" He snapped his fingers, and a monitor appeared.

It was Dan on the screen.

"Now now, wasn't this the origin grade god who killed the goddess of creation? Indeed it is, we believe that he is the one who helped the old god break out of the seal. Omnigod would you please announce the decree?" Hahaha, this is the perfect plan. Who knew why the seal broke? But since he is the only god in the southern side of the human kingdom, he can take all the blame.

The Omnigod frown in displeasure, "Why makes you think so?" Unknown to them all, it is not possible for Dan to betray the Omnigod. He had signed a soul contract. While the Omnigod would not tell the other gods this information, he is still displeased from this act. What was the meaning of this? How dare they pull strings right in front of my eyes?!

Seeing the Omnigod displeasure as a sign that he was mad at the lord of chaos and order, he continued, "The Lord of Chaos and Order was the only god who was at the scene. As servants of the Omnigod, shouldn't we ensure that such a criminal is punished?"

Most of the surrounding gods voice up their support for this. Only the smarter ones could tell that the situation isn't as simple as it seems. The omnigod appears to be unhappy that the god of justice was plotting against that lord...

An origin god wearing a mask whispered over, "Oh so you're making the first move. This is unusual... You usually wait for the right time to make a move Origin God of Strategies."

"Hmph! Like hell, I would give you all a chance..." Such a precious chance to uncover the Omnigod's secret. What could it be? He smirked and stood up.

"That's right! We should not leave any stone unturned. Let us capture the lord of chaos and order once the situation settles."

Another god from the temple of light commented, "He appeared with the elementals. And these elementals actually dared cause a war between the Orcs and the humans. Even causing an internal conflict within the Magi Empire."

"Indeed. This must be all planned by him." It was the Arcane Goddess, she suffered the most because of the elementals. She accused of starting the war between the human and orcs. Most gods were suspicious, the elementals had appeared in both sides just as the war started.

The Arcane Goddess had to try to stop such accusations but couldn't find any evidence to support her claim. In fact, it would make sense that the Arcane Goddess had intentionally started the war. The Magi Empire is known for experimenting on other races. Thus leading to her disadvantage in the current situation.

This is an opportunity to take down Dan who is the potential cause of the human-orc war.

Seeing that the entire room was filled with an agreement to investigate Dan, the Omnigod could only sigh and make a decree. "Since majority has agreed that Dan is suspicious. He is hereby ordered to attend the Court of Justice in 3 days. If he exceeds the time limit, he will be convicted of treason!"

With this decree, Dan has 3 days to enter the court. Of course, Dan knew the events of the court due to an angel who was present. Now he must find a way to reach the court in 3 days.
