The Tragedy Behind The Witch Slaughter

Intrigued by the contents of the old dark brown cover book, Liza opened the pages one by one.

It was written that in medieval times, humans who studied magic or the descendants of human wizards would be slaughtered because they were considered to bring evil.

There are also several pages that describe the many kinds of torture that witches inflict upon being caught by humans. Some were beheaded, hanged, poisoned, and many other forms of horrific punishment.

The issue of the slaughter of witches in the European region has indeed been found on the internet, but not as detailed as in this book. Because after all, the internet only explains rumors that are less clear and unfounded. Most of the issues only come from public opinion that is passed down from generation to generation.

"Okay... I better get out of here quickly... I'll read this book later..." Liza then put the old book into her backpack.

Instead of leaving, Liza was once again interested in looking at dozens of other old books. But what Liza found were only books with the theme of medieval human civilization and technology.

"Aren't their books about witches anymore? I need more information!" Liza growled as she stomped her feet on the floor.

DUG!

Unexpectedly, Liza's foot pounding made a strange sound. That's what made Liza instantly notice the oddity on the floor. He suspected that there was something under the floor.

As soon as Liza observed the floor, she realized that the floor had a very unique pattern. Similar to a sunflower pattern with a black dot in the center of each floor tile.

Between the floors, Liza noticed one spot of the tile which turned out to be a hole. The one with the hole in the tile is the tile Liza stepped on earlier.

A moment later, Liza moved her index finger, following her instinct to insert her index finger into the hole.

And when Liza tried to pull her finger, the tile fell off along with her index finger pulling the tile. Liza was surprised when she found an old book that was buried under the tiles.

'An old book? Again?'

The old book full of dust was opened. There is no title or anything written on the cover of the gray book. But when she saw the contents of the book, Liza's eyes immediately rounded.

"This ..."

At a glance, when Liza flipped through the pages of the book, she saw that there were several pictures of human anatomy with color descriptions on each part of the body, as well as pictures of human movements that were almost similar to martial arts styles. There are also styles like kundalini yoga. The function and purpose of each of these movements are also listed.

Reading the description of each movement there, Liza can conclude that this book teaches some basic movements to open energy pathways in the body. This certainly has something to do with witches.

And Liza's suspicions are getting stronger because in every self-defense movement, there is always a description and chanting of spell magic with a pronunciation that is difficult to pronounce.

Liza also seemed to be challenged to open the sheet in the book to the very end. Seeing one very interesting movement guide, Liza immediately started to practice the movement without first reading the function of the movement and what the spell was for.

"Otkponte bopota..." Liza mumbled the spell softly.

In the next second Liza opened her eyes, nothing seems to have happened. He was disappointed.

"Did I misread the spell magic?"

Again, Liza tried to observe the spell magic inscription. "Ah! Did it read ... Otkroyte ... vorota?"

Not until half a second after Liza said that, a blinding white light appeared from the floor where Liza was standing. Liza immediately ran away and hid behind one of the bookshelves.

"Hello? Anyone??" There was a voice coming from the direction where the light had appeared.

How surprised Liza was when she found out there was a figure of a young male spirit dressed in a white robe, with short amber hair--exactly like the color of Liza's hair. The color of his eyeballs is also purple, but lighter. And surprisingly, that man has a facial line that is similar to Liza's face.

Realizing the existence of someone who called him was hiding on the bookshelf, the young man immediately floated up to Liza.

"Sister??" shouted the young boy when he saw Liza's face

"What? Sister? Who?" Liza who saw the boy suddenly appears behind her was naturally shocked.

"You... Sis Adera? I thought you were dead! Did you summon me?!!" the man asked hysterically.

"I--I'm not..."

"You came back to life? How come?" The man looked at Liza in amazement, but also confusion.

This is the second time Liza is called by that name. Adera. Oh My God ... what the hell is this situation?

Liza closed her eyes for a moment, then she took a deep breath to calm herself it.

Opening her eyes, Liza answered, "Okay. Before I answer your question, let me ask you first. Who are you? Why call me Sister?"

The man just chuckled. "Oh come on! Don't joke, Sis! I am Raul, your beloved brother! You summoned me from the astral dimension, right?"

"S--summoning...?"

Liza's eyes widen. He hastily opened the brown book earlier. Liza also realized that the spell Liza used turned out to be a gate-opening spell between the mortal and astral worlds. Gosh ...

"Okay... Looks like I accidentally summoned you here. I just found this book, then tried the moves and spells."

The young man was stunned for a moment. Feeling awkward about all this. Starting from Adera who doesn't recognize him, and the surprising fact that Adera is still alive, but doesn't recognize Raul at all. That's weird.

"Let me tell you. Some time ago, I was attracted to the astral dimension and met an old man with navy blue eyes in the Arlbergh forest. He also called me Adera, a descendant of the legendary white witch. Because I was curious, I tried to find information about witches in the medieval. Finally, I found this book and accidentally called you," explained Liza.

"Ocean-blue eyes? That must be Fausto's grandfather from a family of blue-eyed white wizards. I heard that their spirits gathered in the astral dimension of the mountain. Since they were last killed not far from that place--"

"Wait!" Liza suddenly cut off Raul's words to take one more book in her backpack.

"I found this book on one of these shelves. It says in the book that there was a massacre of witches in medieval Europe. Is this why they were killed?"

Raul's eyes suddenly turned gloomy. "That's true. In the past, humans with magical abilities and descendants of witches were all slaughtered indiscriminately. Whether it's white or black magicians. Even... Our family... Including Sis Adera... I even saw Sis Adera's corpse. ..."

DEG!

"C-C--Corpse?"

Suddenly Liza's body got goosebumps. Horrified at the thought of the corpse.

"Humans already think that all witches are bringers of disaster. In fact, it is black witches who like to do damage. Meanwhile, we white magicians only carry out our duties in the world according to our respective magical powers to maintain peace."

Raul then changed his facial expression into a smile, along with his moving eyes staring at Liza.

"But now... I found you who is still alive, but unfortunately you can't remember anything. It was quite a shock to me... And made me sad..."

Liza immediately felt guilty. "Raul... I..."

In the middle of the conversation, suddenly Liza's cell phone rang. It was from Mina, her best friend. Liza had been in that stuffy room for a long time. His friends must be looking for Liza's whereabouts. But Liza chose to ignore the phone call and pressed the silent button.

At the same time, Raul's spirit form slowly faded away. Suddenly Liza panicked.

"What happened to your body?"

Raul smiled mischievously. "The spirits of the dead don't last long when crossing the mortal world. So it looks like we can't chat much longer."

"No! Don't go yet! I still have a lot of questions! About Adera's magic power! Can she also… see strange crystals on human bodies like mine?" Liza asked quickly.

Raul touched both of Liza's shoulders gently. Although the touch didn't feel physical, Liza felt its warmth.

And somehow, that touch made Liza's tears flow naturally. Suddenly Liza felt a longing for family. The feeling of longing is exactly when Liza misses her orphanage family in Bernsbergh, Tyrol.

"Ah... About Sis Adera's strength... Actually I really want to tell you everything. Unfortunately, I can't stay here much longer, because we won't be able to go against the laws of nature, Sis..."

Liza's tears were getting louder. "B--but..."

"If we are lucky, we will meet again. Goodbye ..." said Raul, waving his hand.

The form of Raul's spirit is fading. Then it just disappeared like a brush of dust that scattered in the air.
