Need a consort

Anderson

"Welcome to The Hallows," Darla said with a smile at him congratulating him and he smiled back but it didn't reach his eyes.

They based their goodbyes and left and the moment the door closed, Darla looked at me pissed.

"What did you fucking do?!!!" She almost yelled and i didn't even have the gots to remind her she was yelling at her soon to be after because I was too concerned for my liking and for the first few times I was admitting that I fucked up. I actually fucked up with the things that I said to him, I couldn't even tell him That I was just joking Because for every time I remembered how I sounded, it sounded far from a joke and more of a rude degrading comment.

I guess I wasn't the only one who noticed the switch of his energy, he definitely wasn't taking it lightly but then it felt like a switch. He went upstairs and purchased an immediate character development. He took the blow on the spot and it hit him so hard that he couldn't even reply to me. That should have been the red flag but my pride was the size of a fucking juggernaut and it took a lot for me to just apologize to him.

"I may or may not have told him to fuck off and stop being delusional that the world doesn't revolve around him and he should get his ass downstairs and get the contract done with because he assumed I came to find him—" I wasn't even done telling her every thing even though I didn't plan on saying it all especially the part where I said she was kissing his for his skills. She already started tugging at her hair that she was frustrated and I moved back before she decided to use my chest as a vent bag which was well deserved.

"Why the flipping fuck will you say that to someone who has done nothing bit harmlessly tease you for fuck sake Anderson!!!! Fuck actually fuck sake!!! Why would you say that to him?? What is actually wrong with you?? We keep saying that Chris is the problem and now you choose to be the problem? God, so help me if he chooses to revert this contract I'm so fucking done, you would find a fucking solution to the problem because it seems like you aren't happy with his arrival, I have tried to make you see his good, the producers and sound producers see it, they see what I'm saying but you can't!! What else do you want, Ander?? I have made up the world's most unreasonable excuse for all your shitty attitudes and it doesn't make any sense. I promuse you, if he reverts the contract you can fucking take the lead, you are the alpha yeah, you decision is the final word so do what ever the fuck you want…I'm done," She ended it with a tired voice and I felt a sinking feeling in my chest. It was enough that he was not feeling me right now but now having Her feel the same thing…I was definitely the problem and it was hitting hard.

She walked away before I could apologize. I didn't really know what to say as an apology because now it seems like all I have done is pick on him for no goddamn reason and I don't recognize his talent. I clearly recognized it from the very first day he decided to pick up his drumsticks and striked the percussion with accuracy, I knew he was the one we needed. But from the threat and how serious it sounded, I knew I was done. Darla handled a lot of situations for the band like press conferences and other vital parts that the rest of us really weren't ready to dive into.

She took care of it all effortlessly and she was the only one who was able to do the things she did. If the job was given to Chris, he would have spent a good part of every interview talking about himself and not the band. If it was given to Jeremy, he would have just decided he was going to stutter till they gave up on the interview and if I handled it, I might as well just crash end the band because I might fling the presenter into the lens with the stupid questions they asked like which of the members have dated each other when the funny truth is that no one was thinking about it, not me or any of the boys, nkt Even Chris who was known for his lack of control when if came to women.

"Why is Darla so pissed? What did you do??" Jeremy's voice broke out of my thoughts and I snapped my head up. He looked slightly nervous as he talked to me, the same fear I recognized in other people's eyes whenever they saw me because that was all I felt and I don't regret it. What I regretted was the lack of control on it.

"It's none of your business, all you need to know is that I fucked up," I said to him in a cold voice. I didn't know why I did that to sweet Jeremy but the situation between Darla and Hakeem was something disturbing me recently. I heard Darla's voice yelling that my bad habits were going to cause me a lot of shit and it might cause me more than I'm willing to lose currently to be honest.

"Okay…"

Hakeem

"Are you going to talk or should I ask what the hell happened back there?? You came down with a different energy and it was noticeable to the whole room, secondly, what happened with the clumsy guy, did you get to wipe his memory and did you get his address??" She asked way too many questions for me to follow along and answer so I just nodded at her and she looked sideways at me before looking at the road.

"You know I saw a look of concern and guilt on Anderson's face, did he do something, you know if he did, I can give the best draw out and you wouldn't have to deal with their stupidity—"

"Isis, I'm fine okay, I promise, I'm good. I just need to get to my apartment first," I said trying to take her mind off of me. I took everything in me not to yell it because transfer of aggression is something we closely agreed not to talk about. Transfer of aggression was a regular habit of our father on a regular basis. He would have his men perform badly and then blame it on us for not being good enough and just being an element of bad luck.

"I thought we were going back to my place, didn't you say you would come back to my place after this??" She asked, suddenly confused at my last minute change in plan. I didn't want her thinking it too far but I just want to be alone, I don't want to be part of the whole dinner plan and family talk. They would want to make it jovial and talk and I wasn't ready for that. I wanted to lie down on my sofa and drink expensive alcohol watching old sitcoms.

"You are definitely not okay Hakeem, what did he do?? I saw his reaction, I saw the way he looked at you, why are you protecting him??" She asked, getting angry that all I was doing was just keeping quiet and she was driving.

"Keep driving, keep your eyes on the road, I don't want to crash and explain why I didn't die to the public," I warned her and she looked at me with a strange look before looking away from me and kept her eyes on the road. Silence ensued in the car as we kept driving and I refused to bring up any more topics until she got closer to my apartment.

"I think I'm going to get a consort…" I dropped the news for her and she stamped the brake so hard that even with my seatbelt on, I still managed to hit the dashboard.

"What did you just say??" She asked, ignoring the tens of car horns blaring around her and throwing slurs. She ignored them all looking at me and I didn't falter no matter how intensely she stared at me waiting for me ro explain to myself but I didn't think I owed her any explanation, I was well near the age for a consort. I was almost twenty five on Saturday and I was emotionally detached enough to get on for myself.

Now you might be wondering, what is a consort but the main question was who was a consort.

A consort was a human who was more than willing to give a moderate and rational amount of blood to a vampire. It was usually a duty and responsibility of some certain humans and they were destined to do it. So vampires rather chose to go street feeding drinking from different humans in crowded places like clubs, pubs, sport arenas and other crowded places with humans.

Some vampires actually liked exploring the emotional side to feeding which didn't always have to be something that they did at random. They would actually prefer to talk to the human they feed from and build a connection with them and get accustomed to them. They took time to create the bond because originally the humans were scared and wondered why they felt so exhilarated from being fed on and it gave them a hard time to comprehend while some immediately understood and you didn't exactly have to explain their job.

The side effects to having a consort was that some people as humans developed an intimate connection for their vampires and the vampires didn't feel the same. And sometimes they both developed strong feelings for each other and at the end they have to turn their consort to Vampires because they began to age with with human years, while some make it, some don't.

Some people go against the movement of having a consort because it only leads to the one archaic rule that conservative vampires chose to make and turn it to the rules of the ancestors as back and bragging rights making the whole community follow his calling.

But now things have changed, people don't llmit themselves anymore. Everyone did what made them happy if that includes getting married to a human, they did just that. I was personally a fan of consort marriage but I don't think I had it in mind to do so.

"Why do you need the service of a consort?" She asked finally parking by the roadside beside the building of my apartment.

'I'm going back into the field, I want to have a feeder at my disposal." I answered flatly and she breathed out. She didn't meet her wife as a consort.

"Are you sure??"

"Watch me…"
