Cross Worlds

Have you ever wondered if there are other realities? Perhaps a world with magic, or with mythical creatures only heard of in fictional stories? If these worlds do exist, why doesn't our world have any of that? Some people feel like they're in a loop, like every single day is the same thing over and over. Some of us may be okay with that, but others...are just tired of it. Riku Fumiya, an average everyday high school student suddenly wakes up in a room he doesn't recognize and his body is much different from how it used to be. He soon discovers that he's switched bodies with himself from another reality! How will Riku L, the Riku who ended up in the body of his fantasy self, handle the world of fantasy with a reality just a cruel? And is the world Riku F, the Riku who ended up in the body of the Riku of the "boring and normal" world, ended up in really as plain as it seems? Now I know what you're thinking: "Another Isekai, really?" Well, this isn't technically an Isekai. Give it a read and you'll see what I mean! All pictures belong to the respective owners.

Chapter 1-2

The griffon screeched, making the bees back up slightly, intimidated by the magnificent creature. The griffon waited to see if they were going to fly away, but they didn't. One of them fired another beam from its stinger at Riku, almost as if it didn't acknowledge the griffon's presence. However, the griffon raised one of its mechanical wing, protecting Riku. Riku's eyes widened as he saw the full extent of the metal wing; the wing looked exactly like the griffon's other wing, just made of metal.

The griffon growled like a lion and charged at the bees, swinging its metal talons at the bee that attacked Riku and leaving three claw marks down its body. The bee slammed against the barrier from the force and slid to the ground, now dead from the force of being slammed into the strong barrier. The griffon then proceeded to claw and smash the rest of the bees to pieces, killing them all and making it look easy in the process.

Once it was finished, the bird turned to Riku, cooing. It walked over and rubbed its head against him, happy he was ok, but this only made Riku confused. "Why did this thing save me..?" Even though he didn't know who the griffon was, he gently stroked its fur, glazing over its mechanical parts. "This is some really good craftsmanship... It seems to work perfectly too. I guess I really am in a futuristic setting." He sighed.

"Alright... So, I woke up in a strange bedroom, I explored the house, walked outside and realized this was a fantasy-futuristic world, was attacked by killer bees, and saved by a griffon..." The griffon blinked and tilted its head. "Ugh... what the heck is going on..?" He whined and sighed heavily.

Suddenly, his watch began beeping loudly once more; another alarm it seemed. "Another one..? Huh, maybe this was in case I didn't wake up or something. Weird, I've never had a problem waking up with just one alarm." He shut it off once again, checking what time it was: 8:30 AM. He started to stand up, but the griffon suddenly grabbed the back of his shirt with its beak and threw him onto its back.

"W-Waahhh!" He landed perfectly on its back. "W-What the heck?!" The griffon spread its magnificent wings. Even if one was mechanical, it was still an amazing sight. With one flap of its wings, it took off high into the sky. "A-Ahhhhhh!!! Holy shiiiiiittttt!!!" Riku yelled as it flew into the sky, holding onto it as tightly as he could.

He shut his eyes tightly, terrified, but slowly opened his eyes after a few moments, taking in the breathtaking view around him. He gasped a bit, having been holding his breath. He slowly smiled at the amazing view, sitting up straight as the griffon flew forward. "T-This is...This is amazing! Woohoo!! Yeeaahh!" He yelled as they flew, the griffon picking up speed at his excitement. He held onto the griffon tightly, but was loving every second of it. He couldn't help but laugh.

Riku looked to see what it was he was holding onto and finally noticed that the griffon had a type of vest around its torso. "Is this...a saddle or something..?" He moved the birds feathers and fur to look at it more clearly. There was a name etched into the vest near the back of its neck. It read, "Roco." He gazed at the gold plating with the letters etched into it, tracing each letter with his index finger slowly. "Roco..." The griffon cooed at the sound of its name. "So that's your name..? Roco." Riku smiled, gently running his fingers through its fur. It cooed again, slowing to a more moderate pace as it flew through the sky.

Eventually, Roco the griffon would start flying downward, going below the clouds and into the forest below. He landed on a wooden platform that seemed to actually be a landing platform for him. Riku looked around, gazing at the wooden structures around him. "So it seems like everything in this world isn't so futuristic after all.." Riku had landed in some sort of tree fort. It could best be explained as several well built tree houses all connected by wooden bridges, not to mention they all looked rather sturdy.

Riku stepped down off Roco's back and began walking down the bridge that lead to the wooden building in the center. There was one main building, which looked more like a big hut and was also where he was heading now. It had several different bridges branching off of it that either led to another smaller huts or some kind of training exercise, whether it be a bunch of dummies, a parkour course, or floating targets that somehow moved on their own. "Well, I guess it's not entirely all natural..." He chuckled a bit as he walked into the big hut.

His eyes widened with amazement as he entered the building. There were several different sets of training gear, wooden swords, a fridge full of energy drinks, several long ranged weapons, and more. "This is like my dream facility if I were to be in some kind of fantasy anime! Dope!" While he loved the facility he was in, there was just one problem. "Except the only things I know what to do with are the energy drinks... I don't know how to use any of this stuff properly!" He yelled in frustration.

"I guess that second alarm was an alarm for exercise and Roco was so used to the routine by now he brought me here on instinct... But if Roco knows me, then am I in some kind of alternate universe..?" Riku sighed, sitting down in one of the chairs in the hut. There were beanbags, gaming chairs, and a one person couch, all for relaxation purposes after the workout or a break in between he assumed.

He grabbed one of the energy drinks in the fridge and began gulping it down. He felt depleted after the morning he has just gone through. "Wow...this is pretty good stuff." He tossed the empty can once he was finished and made it right into a trash can that was a couple feet away. "Heck yeah!" He cheered, raising his arms into the air. He suddenly paused however as he felt his fatigue fade away almost instantly. "Wow, I'm starting to feel really energized all of a sudden. This isn't like drinking coffee or energy drinks back home. What exactly did I drink..? Oh well."

He leaned back, looking at the watch on his wrist. He touched its screen and it turned on. "So it's that simple." He noticed that a password had to be inputted. He began typing, thinking of the password he used for everything, and it worked. He got in and began exploring. "I wonder..." He tapped the contact tab, hopeful, but it was empty. "Dammit." Suddenly however, a notification popped up and a contact suddenly appeared on it. He stared at the name of the contact, confused, and a single message popped up from the contact that had appeared. It read, "Who is this?"
