Chapter 22

After their breakfast, everyone headed outside. Katherine wanted to tell Steve she was sorry for ignoring him yesterday, even when he had tried to bring up discussion. Katherine had decided she would like to make peace with the siblings and not create drama just like her sister had told her. And she would learn to control her emotions and not follow her mind just as her sister had also told her yesterday.

" Steve!" Katherine called and he momentary stopped walking to see who called him. Katherine made a quick step towards him. " Am sorry that I had ignored you yesterday I wasn't in a very good mood " Katherine said and Steve let her finish her words instead of stopping her.

" it's not a big deal, I understand, c'mon" he said. "who will be in good moods when something as creepy as a beloved ones death" He gave her an assuring smile.

"Thanks for understanding " Katherine uttered about to walk past him but she ceased hearing his words.

" you look great today, did you have a change of mood " He said before coming to walk beside her.

" I think I decided to move on " she said to him and he gave her a thoughtful look. " There is no use crying over a spilt milk. " he said.

Katherine and Steve walked outside. " Katherine!! walk faster " Evelyn shouted at her, so she had to leave Steve side to walk fast into the car in which they were living with. Katherine held the door of the car, her leg placed at the carriage floor which had been flagged down by Steve parents to enter. That instant she saw Claire who was already where she was push her with a much force before entering instead of her. Katherine lost her footing falling to the floor. Evelyn and Steve ran to help her up as Mr. and Mrs. Heathcliff were already inside the carriage.

"Katherine couldn't you watch better while walking!" Evelyn scolded her while trying to help her up. Katherine felt a pain in her leg before noticing she had sprained her ankle." sister I was, Claire pushed me off " Katherine said but got scolded again.

" stop spitting nonsense it wouldn't help you, you fell because you couldn't see well now you're blaming it on the next person. "

" Evelyn move let me help her up" Steve placed his hand on her waist trying to help her, but Katherine was resisting. " I don't think I still want to go " she said in a sad voice. Steve saw when his sister had done such an act, he was even surprise she didn't have serious injury from the way his sister had pushed her, he could tell she was affected by that.

" Brother what is keeping you there! " Claire's voice was heard. " are you alright, Katherine try to get up" he said to the girl.

" Evelyn please take me inside " Katherine complained still not wanting to stand.

" Kathie I will be forced to carry you up if you still resist "He said to the girl, who he saw as not matured in character. Her sister went to whisper something to her ear before the girl started to comply. she was a stubborn type.

He helped her get up and then to stand steadily. Katherine moved to walk but wavered a bit before standing back. Steve bent to straighten her ankle before standing.
