“Taxi’s here,” her father announced.
“Coming!” Grabbing her purse, Jenny stood up and smoothed down her gown before opening the door. “Well? How do I look?”
Jim’s dark gaze swept over his daughter, a slow, proud smile curving his mouth. “Beautiful. You’re going to knock ‘em dead tonight.”
“As long as they bid really high before they keel over,” she shot back with a grin. “A lot’s riding on this.”
He stepped aside to let her exit, but before she had taken two steps down the hall, Jenny whirled on her heel and bolted back inside, coming to a stop before her full-length mirror for one last look.
