“He’s been fucking around with that Mustang for about three years now,” Ashley told her good-naturedly. “He’s never going to get that hunk of junk running.”

“Hey,” John said. “That’s a classic.”

“It’s a classic in the proper hands. In yours, it’s a mess.” Ashley looked to Jenny for help. “He’s had it up on blocks since he bought it.”

“A ‘69 Mustang is a classic, no matter where she’s parked.” To John, she added, “Bring her down to my shop. I can show you where you’re going wrong, and then you won’t have to put up with Ash’s shit anymore.”

“Oh, do you own your own shop?” John asked.

For a second, she hesitated. She never talked about her work at these things; Bryan hated whenever she brought it up. But a quick glance to Ashley told her he was waiting for her to answer as much as John was. Obviously, the rules were different today.
