Chapter 46

Jenny stared at the empty space in shock. It was one thing for Bryan to not want to talk about it in front of outsiders, but she was supposed to be the exception. If she expressed an interest in wanting to know what was wrong, he was supposed to at least accept it instead of running away and hiding in his cave.

Jumping up from the couch, she marched to the bedroom and shoved the door open to find the room in darkness, Bryan already in bed. She flipped on the light, not surprised when he didn’t roll over.

“Why won’t you talk about it? Why are you shutting me out like this?”

“Because there’s nothing to talk about,” came the reply. “You didn’t want to listen to me when the Kyoto deal first came up, you didn’t want to listen to me when Portman put me in charge of it, and you didn’t even hearme when I told you we had to bring in legal eagles in order to clean the mess up.”

She had to grant him the last; he was right about that one. But…
