Ashley took a step forward, closing the distance between them. It would be so easy to lift her chin, just a little, and he could lower his, just a little. “It was the least I could do.” There was a hint of longing in his tone. Or maybe she had imagined it. “Call me when you’re tired of drinking that piss water,” he said, breaking the moment and pulling the door open.

Her smile was soft, but the mention of calling him reminded her of his earlier comments. Darting back to the living room, Jenny grabbed her purse and rummaged around before she found a slightly bent, slightly stained business card for the garage.

“Bring your truck in,” she said, handing it over. “I promise you won’t be disappointed.”

“Satisfaction guaranteed?” he asked with a small smile.
