“Yes, sir. Got me a little spread in Kansas just west of Topeka. Raise cattle and train horses. Just back here to bring my ma to care for ma granddaddy. Daddy and Mama moved west when I was a baby. The spread was my Daddy’s. He left it to me when he passed on. There’s a big difference ‘tween me and them fellas that ride with Buffalo Bill.” Chad wrinkled his brow. He hadn’t thought of it in that way. Before he could consider it further, Leon continued, “I got me an idea for savin’ you a little money.”
“What’s that?”
“I’ll pay for dinner if I get to stay in your room tonight.”
Chad felt a warmth spread through his groin. “Okay, you got yourself a deal.”
