Khloe's POV

Nevian Allerick!

The name sounded familiar.

Yes!

There's Lance Allerick!

At this point, I don't care about the true identity of the person anymore. As long as the last name is Allerick, I swore not to have anything to do with the individual.

A few moments after he left the bedroom, a middle aged woman walked in with a bright smile on her lips.

"Hello dear, is there anything you need?" She asked with a soothing voice that I found myself almost drooling at her tone.

"I need a glass of water, can you get that for me?" I asked, returning her warm smile.

Immediately she took her leave, I threw my feet off the bed and with a speed of lightning, I dashed out of the room, carefully not to run into anyone that would thwart my plans of escape.

My problem came when I saw the huge bronze gate that separated the mansion from the rest of the world.

Unsure of what to do, I stood aside for a while and after a few minutes of plotting my next move in my head, I rushed towards it.

Lady luck was on my side because the gate gave way and soon I found myself outside the mansion.

Exhaling in relief, I turned around only to shift my gaze back to the path in front of me and with the speed of lightning, I ran off, not slowing my pace even for once.

Exhausted, I quickly stuttered into the City Park which was relatively quiet at that time.

Now lying on the bench under the tree, I shut my eyes tightly as my breath hitched in my throat. I was tired and hungry at the same time.

Having nowhere to go, I remained in the park until it was dusk, only then did I step out and with no destination in mind, I began to walk down the road.

At intervals, I would look over my shoulder to ascertain if I was being followed as I doubted if my parents were going to give up on me so easily.

When I couldn't bear the hunger anymore, I grabbed my knees as I doubled over, my stomach rumbling in protest.

The next time I raised my head, my eyes fell on a convenience store which was just a few meters away and with the last strength I had in me, I hurried towards it.

For a moment, I didn't make a move as I remained at the entrance staring at the mouth watering snacks and drinks on the counter.

Unable to hold back anymore, I slid into the store and when no one was looking, I pulled out three packs of bread and a bottle of water.

Grateful that I wasn't caught, I began to hurry towards the exit only for a man to accost me.

With the smug look on his face, I didn't need anyone to tell me that he was the owner of the store.

Forcing a smile at him, I tried to retrace my steps but he wouldn't let me as he tightened his grip on my arm.

"I'm going to return it back to the shelf, okay." I scowled, rolling my eyes at him but he didn't let go.

Frustrated, I titled my head to the head and soon I was struggling with the man. All my struggles came to an end when the police van pulled up in front of the convenience store.

Now in the station, the sergeant kept interrogating me but I refused to say a word to him. Despite my pleas with the store owner, he has refused to let me go until I settle him.

When it seemed that acting stubborn wasn't going to change anything, I pushed my hand into my hair and after tugging on it for a while, I clasped them as I released my weight on the table.

"I want to call my husband." I said the first word that came to my mind and almost immediately, the sergeant handed a phone to me.

Not knowing what to do with the device, I began to rack my head on my next lines of action.

At this point, my parents were the only people I could contact but I couldn't risk it. They were going to have the upper hand and I'm not going to let that happen.

"Aren't you going to make a call?" The sergeant asked and with a sheepish smile, I returned my gaze to him with my hands clasped.

"I have forgotten his number but he is well known." My words made the store owner burst into laughter as the sergeant gave me a blank stare.

Unable to go on, I shut my eyes, falling back on my chair only for the sergeant to say, "Go on, tell me who he is."

"Nevian Allerick." I blurted out hoping somehow he would be contacted and then I would be out of the station.

This time around, it wasn't only the store owner that laughed, the sergeant and other officers around all erupted into a mocking laughter.

Clenching my fist by my side, I tried not to think too much about it but my eyes were burning with tears already.

Taking a deep breath, I pushed my hand into my hair only to slam my fist against the table the next minute.

"Is it even funny?" I yelled and with the confidence I never knew I had, I said, "Why don't you call him and find out for yourself?" I huffed, rolling my eyes at them.

My angry state silenced all of them and now it was my turn to pray that Nevain doesn't deny me.

Just when the sergeant was about to make a call, the door flung open and everyone turned in its direction.

Standing by the door was no other person than Nevian who had his hands tucked in his pockets as usual.

Immediately we locked eyes he flashed me a coy smile but I shifted my gaze away, my heart ramming against my chest.
