Continuous School

School can either be the best time of your life or the worst. Either you are going to spend it being super popular and talk to tons of good looking people, or you will just be stuck at the bottom of the barrel with everyone else. The last few years of your school experience are the most important, who knows what will happen. Will you find love? Will you fight your friends? Will that girl you've had a crush on since the beginning finally remember your name and stop talking about her ex? Well if you want answers to any of these then look somewhere else, because these guys don't really know what they are doing with themselves. Stuck in-between "really socially awkward" and "we have some female friends so are we cool yet?" these three British teens experience their last years of school just like everyone else. With extreme anxiety, awkward conversations, stressful exams and the hope that maybe they'll get a girlfriend. These three just seem to be enjoying it while they can. ___________________________________________ I just write this for fun so don't expect something amazing. You'll probably find spelling mistakes in some chapters but that's part of life.

Rock, paper, scissors

[Tuesday, Lunch]

For us, every lunch was quiet. We just normally stood in the area behind the school's canteen and talked about video games or something whilst eating. There were a few sheltered tables and an area to stand up beside a single tree. The solitude was perfect for our calm antics but some days we have moments like this.

"GUYS! LET'S PLAY ROCK PAPER SCISSORS!" Sean projected with a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm for someone of his age.

"Why?" Ethan said suspiciously.

"Because It's fun, we can have a little competition and the loser has to buy the others a drink."

We were silent for a minute thinking if we should agree. Ethan was probably thinking really hard about wanting to join, whereas I was trying to count the change in my pocket in case I lost.

"Fine, I'll join." Ethan was the first to join

"YAY! OWEN?"

"Sure. I love a good gamble." Of course, I don't. Remember to be responsible with your money, kids.

And just like that, we were preparing ourselves for a match of rock paper scissors, even though we were 15, it was always good to do something like this once in a while.

"So Sean, since you wanted to do this explain how it will work to us."

"OKAY, BOSS!"

His enthusiasm was killing me.

"Right, since there are three of us we will all go at once for the first round, one person is eliminated at the end of the first round and we then move on to round two. The person that loses round two faces the loser of round one in round three. Whoever loses round three buys the other two drinks."

For Sean that was a decent explanation. Maybe he can make a career out of explaining rules.

"OK LETS-"

"Wait wait wait." Ethan stopped Sean before he could force us into it "How are we doing this, are we doing rock paper go, or rock paper scissors go?"

Of course, he just wanted to make sure there was no cheating.

"Rock Paper Scissors go, so reveal after scissors." Sean had thought this through.

"OK LET'S BEGIN."

"ROCK

PAPER

SCISSORS…

SHOW."

The first round is always the most suspenseful. This was no exception. Although I imagine it would be better if we didn't all go for rock.

"AH, looks like we all went for rock. Whoops. Silly us. Let's go again. This time I'm going to use paper."

Wait… What did Sean just say? Did he just say he was going for paper, what kind of psychological warfare is this? I expected this from Ethan, not Sean. Could Sean actually have the intelligence to pull something like this off?

"OK ROCK…. PAPER…. SCISSORS…. SHOW."

But this was Sean we were up against, he wasn't smart enough for mind games like that.

"OH NO. YOU BOTH WENT SCISSORS! I'MMMMMM OUUUUUTTTT" Sean's voice rolled like a professional announcer.

Well, you did kinda say you were going for paper.

"You know Sean when people try and do mind games they often have an IQ of above 10." Ethan acted all smug as if he didn't nearly fall for it himself.

"Well, time for the next round! Ethan, Owen, ENTER THE ARENA."

How is he not embarrassed by what he is saying?

The showdown between me and Ethan was the main event, it was obviously going to be us two against each other. I won't let him trick me, I'm just going to roll the dice and go for rock.

"ROCK PAPER SCISSORS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO."

"OH MY GOD, WHAT IS THIS?????" Sean's commentary was still annoying.

"OH…. MY…. GOD!!!!!!

OWEN'S ROCK JUST CRUSHED ETHAN'S SCISSORS! IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!"

Please tell me he didn't really just say that out loud.

"WE MOVE ONTO THE FINAL ROUND LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. ETHAN VS SEAN. THE CROWD IS CHEERING FOR SEAN. HE MUST BE A FAVOURITE AMONG THE LADIES!"

"OK, OWEN! Count us in!"

In the final showdown, the loser buys the drinks. Sean vs Ethan. I don't care who wins, either way, I get a drink.

"Rock, Paper-"

"ENTHUSIASM MAN ADD ENTHUSIASM! THIS IS THE FINAL EVENT!" Sean snapped at me.

Everyone was watching us with judging eyes. Ethan couldn't notice, his eyes were focused on Sean's hands looking for any hints with sweat pouring down his face. I'm kinda worried he has forgotten how to breathe.

Can this embarrassment just end already?

"Huh, fine…. ROCK…. PAPER…. SCISSORS…. GO!"

...

The third round ended in one go. It wasn't long before the whole of the school, and possibly the whole of Earth heard who had won.

"YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DID YOU SEE!!!!!!!!! OF COURSE, THE MIGHTY SEAN WOULD HAVE WON. YOU WERE A FOOL TO CHALLENGE ME IN MY OWN REALM."

Ethan was shocked to have seen that he had lost to Sean. He was unable to admit defeat and wanted a rematch. Of course, Sean didn't want a rematch and forced Ethan to buy the drinks.

As the loser, Ethan went to buy us drinks. Whilst Ethan was gone Sean got in trouble for shouting too much and had to apologise to the teachers for disturbing everyone.

I guess deep down he is just an idiot. At least I got a drink.
