Roa the City of Criminals Part 04: MK-47's Hero

Connor was running toward where the monsters are going to appear.

Roa city was located in a large cavern, multiple small caves fed into it.

Facing six caves, Connor asked Ariel.

"Are those the ones?"

Ariel menacingly appeared from behind Connor.

The earth started to shake, cracking in rows. Multiple moats appeared!

The monster managed to dig through the collapsed caves and is now heading directly toward Connor.

Running as if their lives depend on it the monster charged not caring about the moats! They started to fall in and die one after the other, using the corpse of their comrades as stepping stones to get past.

Connor jumped into the wall and aimed at them.

He was vaguely aiming and Ariel took care of the rest making sure he hit the target.

Fire! BANG! It was loud, the sound echoed throughout the entire cave and Connor realized that he forgot something.

The hole he was aiming through got destroyed instantly when fired.

That poor Hulking cockroach got blasted into a thousand pieces.

Connor started shooting any monster that approaches the walls. All his shots hit their marks.

That wasn't just because he has a thick exoskeleton, the main reason was that it was dented therefore allowing it to deflect the bullets.

Without the need to say anything, Ariel shifted Connor's 50 caliber rounds with a shell shock.

BAAAANG!!!!!!!!! With a massive booming sound, Connor released a tank shot toward the monster.

The hulking beetle lifted his arm in an attempt to protect his torso from the shot. The shell exploded at impact tearing the monster's arms off.

GRWAAA! It growled.

Hardly standing in place, directly behind him a deep moat, filled with fire and spikes.

Taking a step forward it resisted.

BANG! BANG!

Two bullets throughout the eyes socket caused the monster to fall back into its death.

This feels like those arcade shooting games more than an FPS.

Ariel, If I can change between 50 Caliber and shell shock doesn't that mean I can shoot other things?

From the monster's perspective, The terror behind them is unholy, literal death took form!

In front of them is the unknown, the aura behind the wall is disgusting, that isn't a human.

They can feel two presences but there is only one aura. The mana usually flows like a river but it's like sticky threads behind the wall! Weirdly organized.

For them, it was like when an animal entre a city, what is this place? They simply can't understand what is there.

There was one salvation, no matter what was the being behind the wall, it has a weaker aura than the terror following them!

They have a better chance of survival by facing the wall so they kept charging.

Vanessa and Jack have reached the scene, leading the forces of thieves and assassins.

"What is this wall? it wasn't here before!" Jack said confusion can be seen in the other faces. The only one who isn't surprised, or rather has given up on trying to understand was Vanessa.

"I built it to fight the monsters! Everyone get on the wall and use hit them with ranged attacks!"

"Everyone follow orders! Get moving!!" Vanessa shouted and both the thieves and assassins started to move.

Looking down on them taking the wall, Connor saw Alema waving at him.

Connor put the MK-47 in his inventory and jumped down.

"I got your armor and a brand new sword!" Alema said.

"Oh, thank you I've been thinking of going melee soon!" Connor said.

"Let me help you wear the armor," Alema suggested and Connor happily agreed, he can do it alone but it's hard to get those belts behind his back.

It was obvious in her face but Alema was thinking of something else, her nose started to bleed.

Connor ignored the weird look, she should know it's not the time to act like that so…

As she was helping him, she tried to sneak a touch but Ariel extended the golem hand from the inventory and hit her with a chop.

As soon as Connor finished he grabbed his new sword, It was the same as his old sword.

"We wanted it to be as familiar as possible to you, can't have you die because you weren't used to your weapon!" Alema said.

"Bad, Hulking cockroaches and the giant frogs are easy, the problem is the hulking beetles and the earth digging ones!"

"I won't let you jump in this hell alone, I'm coming too!" Vanessa said.

"Then who will lead the people here?" Connor asked.

"Leave it to me, I will make sure no one hit you two!" Jack said.

"Were counting on you!" Vanessa said.

Connor jumped from the wall followed by Vanessa into the monster-infested stampede.

[Sword Arts: Twin Slash] Connor cut two hulking cockroaches in a single move, Vanessa followed behind him [Dagger arts: Twin Fange] Taking another two, one with a slice to the throat and the other with a stab to the heart.

"Let's move toward the bigger ones!" Connor yelled.

"Ok!" Vanessa replied.

They both teleported toward the nearest hulking beetle, Connor used his teleportation magic while Vanessa used shadow magic.

The moment they appeared The hulking beetle tried to use its [Confusion Gaze] on Connor.

Ariel violently interrupted the [Confusion Gaze] using [Ego] causing the beetle to get stunned by its own mental attack.

Connor tried to take the monke's stick out of his inventory, since a sword can't cut through the beetle hard exoskeleton, the bludgeoning damage of the monke's stick was better.

Exploiting that opening a frog monster appeared and tried to catch Connor with its long tongue.

[Claw Arts: Slash] Vanessa slashed the frog's tongue into pieces before finishing it.

I can count on her to watch my back, Connor thought.

With a single swing, Connor smashed the beetle head as if it was an egg.

Another beetle jumped through the ground trying to take down Vanessa with a claw attack.

Vanessa can dodge that but before she could do Connor teleported between her and the beetle.

Using the Monke's stick to further increase his weight Connor intercepted the beetle claw with a straight punch.

Connor was getting pushed back, The beetle has more strength than him.

The Monke's stick form changed into Ariel's golem.

"Ara! Ara! AAAArraaaaaaaaaaa!" It was a knee to the elbow breaking it, a left hook to the face, and the last is two fingers in the eyes.

With this opening, Connor sliced the beetle head off.

"I could've dodged that!" Vanessa said.

"Sorry, it was on reflex!" Connor replied.

The monster attaching switched from the wall to Connor, That's the danger.

Firing over and over, Connor kept whipping as much of them as he can.

Out of nowhere, a strong wind washed over the battlefield. I was cold, sharp and most importantly It carried something toward Connor.

A twin-tailed squirrel landed on his head, It was brown with blue strips on her back.

"Mei!"

A magic that controls plants and animals, now magic that controls the weather. Is this a stroke of luck or just a derivative of her being a Holy beast? This might even be just because she is tamed by the hero!}

"Mei, can you go help Vanessa? I'm fine alone!" Connor said.

"Squeak! Squeak!" Mei replied as if she understood.

"Now curl into a ball, I will throw you toward Vanessa!"

"Squeak!" Mei curled into a ball enough to fit in Connor's hand.

Connor pitched her at full speed, "Mei, I choose you!"

It doesn't matter if you have dark vison or night vision, you can't see in the thick mist!

Vanessa got confused for a second when her hair stood up.

The mist cleared just moments later.

Mei was surrounded by dead monsters. Some were strangled by veins, the other stabbed with thorns some were even charred.

Connor was actively smashing monsters with the monke's stick while keeping an eye on Mei and Vanessa, he didn't want what happened to Lydia to repeat!

"Retreat Now! It's coming!" Connor shouted at the top of his lunges

"Get the Fu*t out of here!!!" As Connor shouted at Vanessa the cavern behind him broke and a massive worm emerged.

Massive isn't enough to describe the creature, the horror that appeared.

4~5 meters wide, and God's know how long… Covered in purple scales that secrete a gooey liquid with a strong sour smell.

What looked to be the head was just a massive mouth filled with enormous teeth.

Connor clenched his fists, biting his lips to calm down.

[Combined Magic: Stronger Shell Shock] This was even stronger than before, a more refined version. It flew like a missile toward the worm face.

[Fire Magic: Jet] Connor blasted from the ground, flying with jets of flame underneath his feet, directly behind his shell shock.

Intending to use the first one as a distraction and then fire another one directly into the worm mouth.

The worm opened its mouth with a disgusting sound.

[Acid Magic: Acid breath] A massive burst of Acid exploded from the worm gaping mow.

Connor reacted by lifting his arms, [Pure Magic: Mana shield] Ariel created a magic barrier as fast as she could and he was engulfed in a glass-like bubble of pure mana.

The worm breath melted the shell shock at contact, the high pressure tossed Connor backward at high speed.

It was as if a tennis ball was hit with a power washer. As He smashed through the cave violently the bubble popped and Connor smashed into the cave walls.

As the acid melted the rocks in the cave a vile smell filled the entire cave. It caused breathing was getting harder and harder as the acid vapor seeped into the lungs causing intense pain. The eyes start's tearing up, hurting like hell.

Connor felt an intense burning in his entire body, his skin melting from the acid. It was like being pierced by a thousand needles.

[Water Magic: Water Cocoon] Connor engulfed himself in water to wash off the acid, [Wind Magic: Personal Domain] He then created another air bubble inside the water so he could breathe!

[Combined Magic: Active Regeneration] The magic activated to heal Connor the moment the acid was removed.

[Combined Magic: Extreme Active Regeneration]

Without giving Connor enough time to think the worm's massive maw was already in front of him.

[Teleportation Magic: Mana step] Connor teleported above the worm [Ligtning Magic: Thunder fall], [Fire Magic: Fireblast] With fire in one hand and lightning in the other. Connor shot them at the worm's open back.

With a massive fire explosion and a literal lightning strike, Connor expected to at least damage the worm somehow but it was perfectly fine, The only damage it sustained was some of the gooey acids on the scales evaporating.

"What?"

As he screamed The worm weaved her tail and hit Connor with a massive amount of force, he could feel the shock in his lunges and the feel the bones of his shoulder breaking. No amount of pain resistance could fully suppress this pain.

[Holy Healing Magic: High Heal]

[Combined Magic: Stronger Shell Shock], [Combined Magic: Stronger Shell Shock], [Combined Magic: Stronger Shell Shock]. keeping his distance Connor could only count on his ranged attacks, getting close with how strong is the worm acid is a suicide.

The missiles exploded at the word hard scales without leaving as much of a dent.

The worm opened its maw again for another breath, as soon as Connor realized that he used water magic to create as much water as he could [Water Magic: Flood] in an attempt to dilute the acid the moment it released.

He wasn't able to create enough water and got hit directly with the breath.
