Roa The City of Criminals Part 03: Connor Vs Death knight

I'm defenseless now, Connor thought as he was looking at the death knight.

Ariel's advice was; Destroy this thing as fast as possible!

Right now I don't have my armor, not even a shoe! The only piece of clothes on me is my pants.

The moment he appeared in front of me and I got the notification I blasted him without care for collateral damage, Vanessa gonna be angry since I destroyed a part of her brothel.

This thing's danger level is black, which means he has a method to permanently kill me.

Unlike the last time, it seems that I can appraise him! This means that the last death knight was a special case!

The last death knight was made with appraised resistance since the creator knew it will be in contact with the hero.

This one wasn't supposed to meet me! As long as I rush it, I have a good chance of winning.

{Notice: Alice did say that Avander will give all people fighting a blessing to protect them from the necrotic mana of the Undead. For some reason, you didn't receive the blessing! My deduction is that gods can't directly intervene with the hero.

The death night in front of you is releasing massive amounts of necrotic mana, coming into contact with it can cause your flesh to start rotting!}

Connor landed a few meters away from the death knight.

Fights are normal in Roa, to the point that it was treated as entertainment as people come to watch.

Because of the ruckus, an audience was formed as people emerged to watch.

The thieves guild has already surrounded the area from the rooftop of houses, Inspecting the fight.

"This was unexpected!" The death knight said as he stood up.

"Unexpected for me! Interpreting my personal time!" Connor replied.

The crowd could feel it, this isn't an ordinary street fight.

On the rooftop, a man in black clothes was watching.

A death knight? Did this man angre Xaviin? The man thought to himself.

From the shadows, Vanessa appeared behind him. He looked back as if he was expecting her.

"Since he's naked is he one of your customers? We don't have any data about him entering the city!" He said.

"I don't know if doing this is the right thing but since you're the thieves guild leader I will share this with you, I hope this would lead to us both being killed by him!" Vanessa said.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"That man down there is…"

The first effect: Gives a massive debuff to Charisma and causes people to be more aggressive against the affected.

The second effect: Killing the affected won't cause any remorse, it will instead cause joy. People are encouraged to kill the bearer of the Evil stat.

Weakness:

Holy Magic: Since it can damage the integrity of necrotic mana.

Fire Magic: Since the target is a dry corpse it can catch on fire easily, this might not work since the target can resist using his own fire magic.

Phylactery: The Undead core, an object where the soul resides. Destroying it can instantly Kill the undead being. In exchange, the Phylactery will explode in a massive necrotic blast releasing all the necrotic mana stored in the undead at once, this will kill all normal living beings close by, the effect on you is unknown.

Necrotic depletion: The death knight has a set amount of necrotic mana inside him, he will die if it runs out. The death knight can regenerate it by killing the living.

Damage Immunities:

Poison: He is a corpse.

Necrotic mana: Hitting him with it will only give him more energy.

Active so they can provide me with MP, heals, and also protection from necrotic mana since Active regeneration is actively applying holy healing magic on me.

I also have a weapon thanks to Monke's stick.

What I need now is the ability to overwhelm this thing, so for that I need.

The death knight sensed the holy magic surging inside Connor's body so he attacked first.

It was a low sword swing, aimed at Connor's open torso.

Just a moment before the sword connect Connor disappeared from the death knight's field of view.

The death knight speed was 34 while Connor has 36, add in the combined magic [Combined Magic: Enchanted Movement and reaction Speed] Connor had plenty of time to react.

Using [Teleportation Magic] he teleported behind the death knight in the last moment grabbing him from the neck.

[Lightning Magic: Shocking grasp], [Fire Magic: Burning grasp] Burning and electrocuting at the same time, Connor fully intends on frying this death knight on the spot.

[Necrotic Magic: Necrotic burst] The death knight body was engulfed in necrotic in an attempt to heal as well damage Connor.

Even though Ariel only cares about Connor's well-being, she knows that he won't feel right killing people who aren't coming for his life.

The scenery in front of the death knight started to change, the ground started to move away.

Using [Teleportation Magic] Connor started teleporting upward a small distance at a time, over and over He was essentially flying upward with the death knight in hand.

The death knight tried to fight back but he wasn't able to effectively reach Connor.

Using his 35 Strengths, Combined with [Enchanting Magic] Connor could exert a huge amount of raw power.

[Wind Magic: Wind Plateform] Connor created stepping stone mid-air to lean onto. And with a violent spin, Connor tossed the death knight to the city outskirts.

As he was using his left hand he missed the target so the death knight crushed into the city wall.

"Oh sh*t! I forgot that I have a throwing skill, I should've used that!" Connor said as he saw the death knight crush into the wall.

Connor was getting used to using his stats, It's been just over a week that he has been in this world.

I still don't have that much knowledge about magic, before I came into this world I never believed that magic could exist so it's still outside my comprehension.

[Will: 34] With his high will stat, Connor was able to suppress his fear and discipline himself into the task of fighting this death knight.

[Intelligence: 40] Recollecting all his skills without the need to look at his stats, keeping a mental note of his MP, HP, and SP. As well as managing the use of his [Enchanting Magic] to get the highest power output.

Ariel, you can use all Evocation and restoration skills. I believe you can read my mind without me telling you so use that.

The platform Connor made with [Wind Magic] got dispelled, Just as he started to fall, jets of flame blasted from his limbs, propelling him toward the death knight.

The death knight Looked at Connor flying toward him.

"So this is the hero? I don't need to hold back then, I shall take him with me to the depth of the underworld!" The death knight released all his limitations.

For an undead using all the necrotic mana inside him means the end, He has decided to expand all his power to take down the hero.

A grim breeze of death, The smell of rotting corpses.

The necrotic mana stored inside the death knight started to spill out, causing even stones around to start breaking apart, all life can be no more.

Lifting his sword toward the sky he thought.

Xaviin-sama, I might not be to see you as a lord, so I will say it now.

"O'hero! I, The seventh leader of the undying army and a direct servant of the Lord of Undeath Xaviin!" He shouted.

Just moments before he reached the death knight, Connor teleported right behind him, swinging his Monke's stick at a terrifying speed.

[Fire Magic: Raging burst] The death knight used his magic, A burst of crimson red flame exploded in Connor's face.

[Water Magic: Water shield] Connor covered himself in a thin layer of water to avoid getting burnt, not stopping his strike.

The death knight didn't have the speed to dodge, his magic didn't seem to faze Connor. All he was left with was blocking. using both his hands to support his sword he attempts to block.

Strenght 35, [Enchanting Magic], and the 2000 Kg monke's stick. The kinetic energy generated behind Connor's strike was not something that can be blocked easily.

Connor hit the death knight as if he was a small baseball, sending him flying.

[Teleportation magic] Connor teleported above the still flying death knight and delivered a lightning kick pinning him to the ground [Lightning Magic: Zapping] [Martial Arts: Heavy Kick].

[Lightning Magic: Electrocharge] The death knight used his own magic to absorb the lightning in Connor's Kick.

[Necrotic Magic: Necrotic blade],[Swords Art: Swift Slash] The death knight slashed Connor across the chest, delivering a large wound.

Without waiting, Connor swung down his Monke's stick down at The death knight's head.

[Corpse Arts: Hyper movement] The death knight dislocated his neck to lodge Connor's strike by a strand of hair, his helmet was hit and it shattered into pieces.

[Grapler Arts] The death knight used his skill to pin Connor's hand down, he then took a bite from it, forcing Connor to drop the monke's stick, [Poison Magic: Venomous bite]

Using his 40 Constitution and 34 will as well pain resistance, Connor tanked the death knight bite as well as the venom for the time being and struck back.

[Martial Arts: Consecutive punches] Using his overwhelming strength he forced the death knight to let go of his hand.

"You won't survive long with my venom, soon you won't be able to even move!" The death knight said.

The death knight then felt a sudden burning in his mouth, his vision blurred for a second.

"Same for you! I hope you like the taste of my holy magic marinated meat!" Connor said.

Connor's wound evaporated in golden steam as Ariel increased the output of [Combined Magic: Active Regeneration] that has both [Holy Healing Magic] and [Holy Detoxification Magic].

A normal person can have a constitution of 8~15, The death knight venom can kill a person like this in seconds, with a 20~30 It will take minutes, With Connor's 40 Constitution it will take over an hour. This time is enough for Connor to get rid of the poison using [Holy Detoxification]

[Acid Magic: Acid breath] The death knight exhaled an acidic cloud from his mouth. He then charged at Connor with all his speed, he was intending to use the cloud as a cover.

[Wind Magic: Win blast] A strong gust of wind pushed the cloud backward, The death knight didn't stop his charge, this is a fight he can't afford to lose.

[Sword Arts: Slash barrage], [Necrotic Magic: Necrotic Aura] The death knight, while engulfed in necrotic mana started swinging at Connor. Just being Close is damaging Connor because of the necrotic aura.

Connor dodged all of the death knight's attacks one after the other as if he was zoning out, his expression became calmer.

Magic flashed in Connor's eyes as he got the notification from Ariel.

Connor let go of his staff, getting ready to face the death knight barehanded.

The death knight took the chance to swing at Connor's neck, Is he stupid is what he thought.

"Ara!" An arm appeared from the staff and punched the death knights in the face.

Confused, the death knight stared at the staff, he saw it transform, changing shape into a vaguely humanoid form and standing beside Connor in a fighting pose.

Connor posed with his left hand on his waist, the other at the humanoid shoulder.

"Ariel is her name!" Connor yelled.

The death knight stared in shock, what is this hero?

In the blink of an eye, both Connor and Ariel disappeared.

"Behind!" The death knight said as he turned around, he was met with a kick to the face from Connor. As he was falling, Ariel emerged from the ground uppercutting him.

What is happening? there are two? That golem's power is on par with the hero!

[Combined Magic: Earth Glide] Connor jumped into the ground as if he was jumping into a swimming pool, he then grabbed the death knight by the ankles and dragged him into the ground.

Connor can swim in the dirt and stones using his combined magic without much resistance, It is another story for the death knight, for him it was a worse option of being dragged with ropes by a horse. using his own [Earth Magic] he was able to mitigate the damage taken but not all of it.

Jumping from the ground like a dolphin, Connor yeeted the death knight toward Ariel.

Ariel stopped him with an elbow to the torso, It didn't sound pleasant. Then swinging at his face with a barrage of punches.

"Ara! Ara! AraAraAraAraAra!AAAAAAAAARaaaaaaaaaaa!" The last one was a palm strike to the chest, aimed directly at where his phylactery is!

The death knight was sent flying again, ragdolling on the ground. With some effort, he managed to get his stance back.

"Don't overestimate yourself mortal!!" He screamed.

The death knight readied his sword, going into a high guard stance.

Connor emerged from the ground, flying directly at The death knight.

[Sword Arts: OverCut]+[Necrotic Magic: Death blade]+ [Fire Magic: Blaze]+ [Corpse arts: Unhuman stance]= [Quadruple Activation: Hellfire Slash]

With his sword burning with unholy fire, the death knight aimed to cut Connor in half.

Connor faced him directly.

[Enchanting Magic: Overpower]+[Mace Arts: Heavy smash]+[Martial Arts: Direct punch]+[Ligtning Magic: Ligtningbolt strike]+[Wind Magic: Shockwave]+[Earth Magic: Solid ground]+[Pure Magic: Mana Overload]+[Destruction: Disintegrate]=[Octuple Activation: Monke's punch]

I used this before when I fought with the idiots that they were hitting on Alva and Lydia, It wasn't this strong. A part of it that I didn't have the strength nor the ability to withstand my own power, Also I didn't want to kill a human with a punch.

This time I can do it! My enemy is an undead that I can kill with ease.

Connor's fist has met The death knight sword. The clash of magic was massive, the earth shattered. but, The sword shattered just as it impacted, whatever metal it was made of it couldn't handle the pressure.

Connor's fist clashed into the death knight's chest and penetrated into his Phylactery.

The phylactery that was supposed to explode with necrotic mana when destroyed was overwhelmed by Connor's mana and got disintegrated by the destruction skill alongside the necrotic mana in it.

The death knight's body exploded into tiny pieces that got scattered all around in a shockwave.

"{Notice: You deleted him!}" Ariel commented.

"Having a mana core is really helpful, I could feel that it was easier to use my skills and since I was fighting an undead I was able to go all out!" Connor said.

"{Notice: You were disgusted by the cockroaches and felt bad for killing other monsters as if they were animals. without talking about how stressful it was for you to fight humanoid! This time you managed to enjoy yourself since the enemy was an undead}" Ariel replied.

"That's right! are you going to use this form as your guide instead of the light ball?" Connor asked.

At the front, Vanessa was with Jack, the leader of the thieves guild.

"Are you sure he is a human? I can't believe a human can do that to a death knight!" Jack said.

"Why are you asking me? He told me he was a human so that all we know, but your right this absurd strength is above what a normal human body can handle!" Vanessa replied.

"If you told me he was a demon or an elf I would have believed it but this is just too strong for a human!" Jack said.

"Well he is a hero, I guess this should be expected?" Vanessa said.

"What do you expect me to do now that he is…" Before he could finish his sentence, jack was interrupted by a loud crashing noise.

Connor has landed standing beside them cracking the ground.

Jack wasn't able to speak, let alone move! The monster that was toying with a death knight is beside him, I single the wrong move and he would have enough time to even breathe.

Sh*t! I'm a thief, direct flights aren't my strong point, rather I'm an expert at taking an item then running away as fast as possible.

"Connor-san, why do you have such an angry face?" Vanessa asked.

Connor stuttered for a moment before speaking.

"I'm not angry...I mean...Sorry but I broke your roof, I didn't mean it… I can explain!" Connor said.

We here are scared for our lives from him and he is apologizing for breaking my brothel? I guess he is Connor.

"It's alright! I don't mind about the brothel. On the other hand, this is Jack the leader of the thieves guild!"

Connor was petrified for a moment, as the place was surrounded by thieves.

Oh! sh*t, the police… are they here because I destroyed the city wall.

"I can explain, That death knight was heavier than I expected so I wasn't able to control my strength… I swear I can fix the wall with earth magic, let me do it real quick!"

With a weave from his hand, a wall emerged from the ground and fixed the city wall.

This scared Jack even more… this hero is insane!

{Notice: The stampede!!!} Ariel yelled in Connor's head.

"Ah! Almost forgot… Vanessa!" Connor turned toward Vanessa.

"What?"

"A large group of monsters is heading toward the city! I'm going to fight for the exp, what about you?" As soon as he said that Jack's face turned pale.

"A stampede? We can't just sit and watch, we have to drive them away! What about you Jack!" she asked.

"Ah! Me? We will help, it's our job to protect the city!" Jack replied.

Connor remembered that he wasn't disguised.

"Vanessa… I look!" Connor said.

"Doesn't matter now! Our plans fell apart the moment you started fighting the death knight and attracted the thieve's attention! I did it without telling you but I told him you're the hero!"

Connor didn't think much of it, The plan failed and that was it for him...Ariel on the other hand.

The monke's staff transformed into the humanoid golem form and grabbed Vanessa from her hair lifting her up.

"{Notice: This is why we wanted a full domination slave Contract on her!}" Ariel was angry, she and Alice have suggested putting Vanessa under full control expecting this might happen, but they trusted Connor and allowed more freedom.

To Ariel, This was betrayal!

As soon as Ariel was about to kill Vanessa she stopped.

"{Notice: You were about to stop me, no need for you to take physical actions! I also understand what you thinking!}" Ariel stopped as soon as the thought of stopping her crossed Connor's mind.

"Then let her go! It's just how things have gone!" Connor said.

Ariel let Vanessa off, she then said.

"{Notice: Remember, she could have masked it by saying that you were just a customer going wild, an old enemy that was an assassination target. The stories she could have made to cover you up are abundant!}"

"To be honest, At the start, I thought you were a customer assassination going wrong!" Jack said.

"{Notice: See!}" Ariel said.

"What side are you on!" Connor yelled at jack.

"{Notice: I guess your silence means you know you made a mistake.}" Ariel said to Vanessa.

"Yes…" Vanessa replied with a low voice.

"If I may speak up, Vanessa-san is an Assassin not someone good at dealing with information that's more of a thief job!" Jack said.

"You mean?" Connor asked.

"Assassins can kill people, you can also send them to dangerous places to gather information! Now if you wanted to protect that information, spread rumors, obtain a certain object you need thieves! That's our job." Jack said.

"{Notice: You say you will work for Connor?}" Ariel asked.

"Of course! I want to have no beef with a man who toyed with a death knight!" Jack said.

"{Notice: A wise decision!}" Ariel replied.

"Stop moving the conversation without me!" Connor screamed.

"Now all you need is the slave traders to join and you will be able to control the city! by the way where is he?" Jack said.

A man appeared from the crowd dressed in clothes that seemed a bit fancy than the norm in this city.

"I'm the leader of the slaver in this city, my name is Luicidal and I'm happy to ser…" Before he could finish speaking, Connor punched him in the face, knocking him out.

"Restrain all the slave traders now!!!!" Connor yelled.

With 32 charisma, all the assassins and thieves present that have heard him jumped into action, restraining and capturing all the slave traders present at the scean.

A woman assassin asked Vanessa.

"Is doing this is alright?"

"Both me and jack now serve the hero, following his order is the right thing!" Vanessa answered.

"I'm going to face the stampede, Follow me after you finish dealing with the slavers!" Connor said.

"As you order!" Both Vanessa and Jack replied.

Ariel turned back into the Monke's stick.

Connor took a mana potion from his inventory and drank it before jumping outside the wall.

"This is going to be the start of a new age to Roa City!" Jack said.
