Know her enemy

"Mistress, I'm sorry for not reporting to you early. I had to tell Lady Ye's story to both Old Madam and Madam"

"Matters not. The pill are you sure she said it had a purplish glow and was from the Poison Sect?"

"Answering Mistress, the pill indeed had the purple glow, but this servant is not sure if what Lady Ye said about the Poison Sect is correct"

Lun'er bowed to her true master and went out of the chamber. She was one of the people around Lady Ye that Ming Shu bought to her side. Ming Shu thought that this way she could prevent any plot that Lady Ye cooked by having people reporting to her, but reality gave her a sounding slap on the face. If not the lucky accident of having Lun'er being the one who was instructed, her young brother could not be with them right now.

She had deeply underestimated her home courtyard's fights, she thought that although they could scheme against each other, their schemes were rather harmless, they would probably would only include some petty disputes, Lady Ye being the only exception, since she had always wanted her mother's life. But not in a million years, Ming Shu expected that that mere concubine would have the goal to threaten the life of a child that would not influence a lot her standing with poison, even less one that came from the Poison Sect.

Ming Shu took a deep breath thinking about the Sect.

Poison Sect.

They were known all over the continent and had the reputation of being vicious and ruthless. They were one of the major forces in the Underworld and in 5 years form now, they would become its ruler and start a terror reign.

In her past life Ming Shu fought them many times in hopes of having their influence in their country diminished, since its influence got to the point of having the ability of deciding things in the Imperial Court. Zhao Song had wanted to put a mole in the Sect in order to take them down, so Ming Shu volunteered and after passing by their tests, she was spotted by her mentor.

Her mentor handpicked her and trained her in the art of poisoning. He was a sloppy man with a weird beard and a benign smile. Although he looked rather harmless, he was one of the Elders of the Sect and was known to have made an undetectable poison, which was the one he passed to her as an inheritance even after he knew she was a spy sent by the kingdom.

To her he was one of the people she hold dear and planned to find him again and take him out of the Poison Sect before it was decimated by Zhao Song or anyone else. He was someone she deeply respected and loved, but now she was unsure how to feel about him.

'Purple freedom', a round pill with a purple glow. It was named like that because how people had a sublime expression in the death bed. It was a silent and fast killer, which killed you while you felt pleasure. That was the inheritance that her mentor left her in his death bed. She didn't expect to see it so soon after her rebirth, much less as a weapon to harm her loved ones.

What she was even more surprised was that Lady Ye was able to get her mentor's most prized poison and that she can casually use to kill a newborn. You must know that even to the Emperor had a difficult time getting much to use casually like that. There were only one way that Lady Ye could get this pill and usually this easy: She was somehow related to Ming Shu's mentor, and either he gave her an unlimited supply of purple freedom or she was the one that produced the poison.

Ming Shu really hoped that it was not the last option. Because she knew that her mentor had a previous apprentice that he alienated because they had different views. If by any chance Lady Ye was the list apprentice, she was even more dangerous that she originally thought. After all, the reason that the mentor alienated his apprentice was because her senior didn't feel a thread of remorse even after killing many innocent people, which was actually a very appreciated trait by the Poison Sect but for mentor.

Either way, Ming Shu decided that she needed to investigate Lady Ye's past so that she can truly know her enemy.
