Chapter 18
At the house, Owen started to set things up while Nellie played with Sarah. Cole offered both his and Daniel’s help, but Owen politely refused. Cole tried to insist. Owen rebuked him again, more sharply this time, so Cole did not offer again. Instead, Daniel took him back upstairs for some alone time, stopping to pet Butch and Cassidy since they had been bouncing at their heels ever since they walked in the front door. As relaxing as petting a dog was supposed to be, it had nothing on how Cole felt when he left the world behind in favor of his partner. Cuddling on Emmett’s bed still felt weird, but having the familiar shape and heat of Daniel’s body pressed against his back did help take Cole’s mind off some things.
