Chapter 1: The Dark World

The sound of footsteps echoed in the quiet forest, a woman running for there dear life away from something, perhaps from someone. On her person was a cloth seemingly tied around her shoulder supported by her arm, within it is a child… or two. As she ran with all her might she'd occasionally check behind her hoping that "it" couldn't catch up to them. Then down came the rain, pouring with all of its might making the solid ground soft as it gets wet. Still she hasn't slowed down at all still running as fast as she can, then not long after there "it" was.

Following the woman was a dark shadowy figure seemingly faceless devoid of humanity but having a human like figure, its claws that were stained with blood where now washed from the rain as it gleamed hungry for more. It hastens its pace once more as dark red red aura briefly glow all over it, inching closer and closer to the woman.

Faceless Figure: How long do you intend to run my Queen? You know very well sometime soon you will get tired as soon as it doe-

Before it could even finish its sentence earthen spikes would appear in front of it without a delay, but it simply weaved away from the danger. Followed by the spikes where multitudes of spells casted in the earth element. Rocks were hurled, golems were summoned, the ground softened even more creating a quicksand and spikes erupted.

Woman: Have you forgotten who you are up against fiend? I am the Queen of Zyrtin, and I will never let you have my children!!

The figure simply slashed through some of the spells fired at it, dodging some and simply reacting to her spells as soon as they were casted. It did slow the thing down a bit as the barrage was seemingly endless then a momentary halt to its movement as a giant wall of earth appeared before its path dazing it a bit.

In a burrow not that far away from the woman was chased is a family of bunnies, not your regular run of the mill bunnies monster bunnies. Currently praying to the goddess of light for their meal before them which were simply an assortment of meat and vegetables. All was well, till the felt the earth around them reacting to magic being casted above ground.

Bunny A: There goes the humans again messing with nature and such. Couldn't they keep the casting to a minimum?! It's not like they're the only creatures in this world?!

Bunny B: Now now calm down dear. The world has changed you know. Even this is a change that we never expected..

The house grew silent as they recall the many grim things they've gone throughout their lives, as well as the changes that were definitely life altering. Once simple animals then in a span of 50 or so years, monster to unknown species of rabbits as they were separated to the rest of their clan. War rampant above ground and there was no shortages of blood being spilled whether it be human or monsters.

The silence was broken by a cry outside near their burrows entrance. Two babies left at the entrance of their burrow the cloth wrapping them bearing the crest of the Zyrtin royal family. Ears perked up within the burrow wary of the noise that literally woke them from wallowing in despair.

Bunny C: I'm gonna check that out. Bye mum and dad!

Bunny D: Me too just to make sure she doesn't get hurt that badly.

Bunny E: It's too tense here..

Three of the ten bunnies present in this particular burrow went out to investigate the origin of the sound, as some stayed behind while the parents went after the three. There they spot the children that were in the woman's arms not too long ago. Human children left near a burrow of monsters makes you wonder who were the real monsters.

Her magic was now running dry, as well as her stamina anymore and she will surely stumble and fall from total exhaustion. She still is clutching unto her children as her life flash before her eyes and tears falling from her face. As all hope seems to be loss she only wishes one thing the safety of her children, as if the heavens heard her a radiant light shines on a nearby burrow as well as a wall of light got in between her and it.

Faceless Figure: Argh!! It's you again interfering my master?! This world is no longer yours.

The figure put unto a full stop ranting and slashing the wall trying to get through it. It seems the goddess haven't completely abandoned this world, with this the Queen quickly got near the burrow casts a few spells on it as well as her children. Leaving a pendant as well as a ring behind, then she embraces them tightly one last time giving them both a kiss before running away. As tears began to flow form her eyes thinking about her children's future were she couldn't be there, knowing well that this might be a parting that can't be undone. Now the Queen carrying her would be "children" ran away towards a cliff luring her assailant. The wall of light that blocked the path of the creature simply just vanishes as it joyfully rushed towards the Queen thinking they have won.

Faceless figure: This is the end my Queen surrender the children so we could sacrifice them to our dark god. *now reaching towards the Queen and to the "children"*

Regal Woman: *dispells the illusion the moment the figure got really close* So that you could turn me into a zealot of a mad god? Too bad you've already failed.

Faceless Figure: Queen Amarynth Crux Rezain failing to comply to his majesty's orders I sentenced you to death! *proceeds to get in close and stab the Queen through her abdomen* I may not have the children now but I will find them… and perhaps maybe turn them into zealots.*a twisted smile would form in its would be face*

Amarynth: *currently bleeding out* Too bad Chancellor Pox you won't be doing any of that! *she'd wrap her arms around him making him dig more into her flesh never letting go*

Pox: *realizing the gravity of the situation tries to wring himself free* You mad woman?! Unhand me!! I can't perish like this! *but the blade he stuck unto her can't be undone as look into her eyes which was burning with determination, her grip unrelenting as he heard her chanting a spell.*

Amarynth: You will never harm my children ever! You will pay for your crimes and goodbye my old friend.. *finishes her chant as she drags the faceless figure with her towards the cliff. Glyphs, runes and magic circles began appearing around them as a blinding light consumes them both.*

It was sight to behold, a pillar of light appearing out of nowhere, whether they be monsters, beastmen and humans alike. Nearby towns would talk about the phenomenon with varying concerns and hope for the kingdom they're involved with, creatures of varying origins saw this as mark of an omen to some a boon that they must and need to further themselves but for most this blinding pillar of light gave hope in "The Dark World" of theirs.

I thank you for reading my work, I hope you forgive for the many errors in thy grammar. Do please add suggestions on the comment section, I might add some of them in the later chapters. This will be my first of many attempts to write to actually go through. Does it make sense? The way of writing I mean. I do hope it does.
