Chapter Thirty_Five: Darkness POV: Stalking Angel

Song Recommended: Animals By Maroon 5.

Tracing Footsteps is one thing but having to rely on scents is another. Her faint scent was all they had as they walked around the forest for what felt like eons.

They had gotten tired of making small talk. Gotten tired of trying to make sense of what they discovered and how different this world was from their own. In all their decades of living, never had they encountered a realm so peaceful.

Yet so sketchy.

They felt as though they were being watched and that one wrong step would lead them to a path of misery. But in this case, misery had discovered itself as a woman.

Beautiful in all its way yet so mysterious.

When they finally collapsed from hunger and tiredness. Their tired yawns reaching each other's ears as though arms reaching for the other's embrace.

By the time they noticed that there was an opening to a cave. They had slumped their bodies against the comfortable trees and bushes that surrounded them.

"Why on earth is there a cave here?" Rose yawned as she tiredly looked over to me. She pointed to the entrance of the cave and I lazily shrugged my shoulders. "How should I know? Last I checked we came into this realm together."

"Go check it out," she said, slowly closing her eyes. Automatically knowing that she was about to sleep. I reached for a small stone that was next to me and threw it at her.

"Ow!" she cried. As she snapped her eyes at me, rubbing the sore spot. "I can see someone forgot that we are in a realm that takes away the advantage of being different. Now cut it you're hurting me."

"Why don't you go check out the cave, aren't you supposed to be my bodyguard?" I coaxed. "Don't try to manipulate me. Just cause I have to take care of you doesn't mean I won't get your dumbass. Now let me sleep." she said.

Turning her body away from me. Laid on her side and within seconds I could hear her soft snores. She wasn't the only one tired but that didn't mean that I was going to over look the cave.

Sigh, pushing myself up, I walked towards the cave and when I reached the entrance I sqinted. Trying to see beyond what the moonlight provided. I pause when I heard the sound of something crackling.

"Rose." I called. "Rose" I tried again. "Leave me alone. I need sleep." came her warning. Instantly knowing I'm alone, I took a deep breathe in but that's when I caught it.

Her scent.

It was strong in this cave. as if she had been in here not long ago and the deeper I walked in. The more I could tell that a lot had happened in here.

That's when I caught sight of the Rose. The edges seemed to be slowly turning black on the outline the closer I got to it. I stopped. Not wanting it to turn to ash as I figured it could already sense what I was.

Who I was.

Bending down, I looked closer at the stones surrounding it. "...In The Beginning." I read and instantly the entire cave lit up with fire torches on the side.

Falling flat on the ground from the shock. I looked around to make sure that there wasn't anything that would surprise me even more.

When nothing came out to attack me, I got up and began to walk deeper into the cave. Finally being able to see the cave clearly and all that it kept inside of it. There were markings and deep within at the end.

Was the biggest set of recurved wings on the wall. Clearly outlined sharply as though the artist had taken time. And at the corner was a glowing feather.

Yet when I reached for it, smoke rose from it and I had no choice but to step back. All of this was about to become more difficult than needed, all because I was the son of the devil.

Alright. How are we going to do this? Count to three, grab or just call Rose again?

Oh no she's not going to take it lightly.

We need to take it though.

Do we really?

Yeah, we do.

okay.

On three.

Alright.
