Approaching Her

I see her looking down at the floor with her scarf covering her mouth.

"Hello Jessica, glad you could be LATE again." the teacher growled.

I felt my eye twitch feeling instant rage building up.

"I'm sorry." she murmured.

"It's quite alright... Just sit down." The teacher said clearly irratated.

As she walked over to the empty desk, all eyes were on her. When she sat down, I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I really focused on her appearance. She seemed like she was hiding her body with an oversized coat.

When she sat down something caught my eye, a really big bruise on her leg. I felt my heart throb in pain but as quickly as I saw it she quickly grabbed the end of her skirt covering the mark.

___________

Throughout the whole class she seemed so zoned out. Like she was in a different world. She was clearly not paying attention. She was in deep thought about something.

*bell ring*

"Okay children. Recess, then get back in here."

Nearly everyone ran out of the classroom overjoyed.

I got out of my seat while placing my hands in my pockets. I was walking with my group when I noticed she didn't get up from her seat. I glanced at her in the corner of my eye.

'Should I talk to her?'

"Hey 'Fucker', wanna go outside and shoot some hoops? I bet I can kick your ass any day!!"

I roll my eyes to his empty threat.

"Whatever 'fat boy'... You couldn't shoot a hoop if your life depended on it." I groaned out.

"Oh yeah? Let's go bitch!" He said getting in my face, it took a lot for me not to punch him.

'God... He's so fucking annoying...'

We were about to leave the classroom, when I see Mr. Garrison walk up to Jess. She was laying her head down on the table hiding her face. I felt really uneasy when I see him place his hand on her back. She looked up at him slowly with her cold dead eyes.

'Something doesn't feel right..I can't leave her alone... I just can't...'

"Hey guys... I'll go outside shortly..."

"Oh okay Craig..."

As they left the room I walked up to her feeling more uneasy. The second he looked up at me he immediately removed his hand from her back.

"I'll leave you two alone." He said leaving the room in a hurry.

I sat at the desk next to her.

"Hey... you okay?"

"Why are you talking to me?" She spoke in a sour tone.

'Wow... First words coming from her are awfully rude.'

"Well.... Honestly I noticed you're alone a lot.... I thought maybe you wanna be friends and not be alone anymore."

She looked over at me with the most confused look possible.

"What? You wanna be my friend?"

"Yeah... Is that okay?"

Her eyes lingered to her hands placed on her desk.

"What are you doing? This isn't like you. You don't go out of your way to talk to others. Especially people like me. What's really going on?"

'Shit, looks like I'm going into defensive mode.'

"Sorry, I didn't think it was a crime to make a friend. If you'd really want to be left alone with the creepy teacher,  I'll just leave you alone then..." I said getting out of the seat walking to the door.

"W-wait..."

I stopped in mid step and looked back and see her looking away embarrassed.

"D-do your friends not mind me being around you?"

A small grin crept on my face as I made my way back to her.

"No they won't mind. However fat ass might, but I'll handle him."

She didnt seem fazed as she simply looked out the window while watching the students playing outside.

"I don't like people is the thing.." She muttered.

"I don't either... I don't like anyone for that matter but friendship is... surprisingly worth being around  others."

She looked back at me.

I held my hand out toward her.

"Come on... We don't bite."

She tensed up with slgith red tinted cheeks looking back outside.

She sighed while looking down.

"Fine.... But if they give me shit... I'm not staying..."

"Trust me... The only one dumb enough to do that is Cartman and I'll handle him"

She grabbed her scarf hiding her mouth while facing me. She walked over to me holding out her hand. I grabed her hand leading her out of the room.

"Thank you." She mumbled.

"Don't mention it. Now, let's go.. I have a couple friends who I want you to meet."
