Warm Hearts and Souls

"I guess this sounds like a plan. Yes?"

They all nod and head back to their desk as class begins. I sit in my seat and take out my books. When opening a book a note falls between the pages. I look around and open up the note to read it.

Good morning. Good idea about the hangout after school. -Zi xin

I look over to him and mouth the words, thank you, to him. He smiles and continues to read the book and so do i. Hours later, the bell finally rang and school was over. Everyone except Li xia and the gang left class. I place my things back into my bag and carry it.

"I can't wait to go! They'll have lights, lanterns and most importantly food!" Li xia exclaims.

"Ruhan cant go." Wei qiang says "he told me during P.E he had a date?"

"A date?" Linda lifts her eyebrows.

"Yup. So let's go."

We head to the park where the event was being held. Everything seemed perfect. It was perfect.

We went to a dumpling booth and grab dumplings to eat. We saw dance entertainers and live acts.

"Having fun?" Zi xin asks me as he wipes his mouth with a napkin.

"Mm." I take a glimpse of everyone joking around, Sasha and linda being sweet to each other and Wei qiang and Li Xia running around and here sitting on the bench with warmers in our hands were me and Zi xin. "A lot of fun. I am happy I got friends so soon, even after.."

He stops me, "Don't. Tonight is a night of friends not the past. There'll be other nights for that." He puts his hand warmers in my hands and stand up. "Warm up. I'll go look at what else we can do here."

I hold onto the warmers and smile, "Okay."

Sasha sits next to me and lifts an eyebrow, "Zi xin? Your type?"

I turn around quickly, "what! Me? Him? No we just met and are friends. He's just being nice."

Sasha laughs, "nice? Do you know how long it took for all of us to be friends with him? He kept pushing us over like we were bugs but he is so close to you within a second! It has to be fate!"

Linda puts her hand on my shoulder, "Sasha's right. Zi xin isn't the type to be nice." Linda gets closer to my face and stare at my face and smirks, "Are you blushing?"

I get in a rush and tightly gripped my hands. "Blushing? Me? No, why would I be blushing?"

They both looked at me like I was hiding something, which I wasn't.

I step back and grab onto Li Xia arm, "Trust me. I'm not blushing."

"Huh?" Li Xia was confused but she also looks at me then laughs, "Pft, you are blushing! Ouuu!"

I push her away and cross my arms. "You too! Stop joking around like that, we're just friends." I go back to the bench and sit back down, still with my arms crossed.

Wei qiang puts one arm around Li Xia shoulder and chuckles.

"Looks who's blushing."

"Who's blushing?" Zi xin came back and with a paper in his hands. "So, who is blushing?"

Wei qiang jumps and nervously back away. "Eh, no one is blushing. We were just teasing Xiaoxiao. That's all."

He glances at me and look back at Wei qiang, "teasing her? About what?"

I stand up and stop them. "Nothing. Forget it. Did you find anything we could do?"

He hands me the paper and nods his head.

I look at the paper and pick a random activity. "How about lantern making?"
