Truth

It's been several months since Lukas' surgery, his fatigue was still there but it was much better than before. His follow-up with Dr. Karl went pretty smooth. Mika's bone marrow was working quite well inside of Lukas. David picked them up from the hospital, the weather was getting chilly again. The leaves are starting to change colors from green to yellow to red. Mika was sitting beside Lukas, he's been busy with various things from monthly reports to business proposals.

Lukas had to attend several meetings that afternoon, Mika was waiting inside his office. She didn't want to sit around and do nothing. So, she got up and cleaned dusty surfaces. She organized the files on his desk and placed some of the books back to shelves. Suddenly, a photo dropped on to the floor.

She flipped it over and she saw two boys and one girl with their parents. It must be Katy, Lukas, and Anthony, she thought. She flipped to the backside and there was a short note.

"To my dear sons and my daughter, you three are mom's angels. You guys are a gift from heaven. Mom loves you all. I hope to see you guys grow up. Love, Mom." Mika smiled at the note and carefully placed it on Lukas' desk. Mika wanted to know what happened to their past. She looked at her phone and Lukas' meeting will end in three hours. She called Katy to see if she was available. Thankfully, she was. So they met at the cafe right across the company.

Katy picked medium vanilla latte while Mika picked small mocha coffee. Since it's been a few months since they last saw each other, they were quite close like sisters.

"What brought you here?" Katy asked.

"Katy, do you know what happened between Anthony and Lukas when they were young?" Mika did not beat around the bush. Katy stirred her vanilla latte then carefully sipped a few times.

"Anthony and Lukas were very close to each other. I was born a few years after they were born. I saw them playing with each other and sometimes they will leave me out. But that's the past. Things started to get bad when our father decided to give the President position to Lukas. Lukas was a very smart and responsible teenager when he was growing up. He's not our father's favorite but our father is a smart man and chose Lukas as the future president of his tech company. That's when Anthony started to hate Lukas, because he felt Lukas stole his position. My father also had another company but he decided to make Anthony work for a few years before getting the president position. It was during this time, Anthony loathe his twin brother so much that he became the way he is right now. But the funny thing is... Anthony was our father's favorite son. He was very spoiled compared to Lukas. So our father decided to teach Anthony a lesson first before giving him the things he wanted. Anthony became like this because of hatred and jealousy that's embedded deep within his heart. Sorry I talked a lot." Katy drank her vanilla latte after answering Mika's question.

Mika thanked Katy because she finally understood their family's conflict. Even if she couldn't help them much, the least she could do was to let Anthony and Lukas reunite and start working together. She had enough of their cold wars with each other. Katy looked at Mika with a strange expression, "Mika, what are you thinking about?"

"Katy, I'm sorry if I crossed the line... but do you think it would be possible for them to work together? Maybe in the future?" Mika asked but she wasn't sure if this was the right way. Katy replied, "To be honest, I want them to work together. That's what our mom said before she passed away. Anthony and Lukas are my brothers whom I love very deeply. It really hurt to see them like this. Mika, if this isn't too much to ask... would you be able to help them and to heal their relationship? I'm sorry for Anthony and his previous behavior especially at the hospital and your strangulation marks. I apologize. But if he hurts you or Lukas next time, call the police." Mika nodded and comforted Katy, "I'll try my best."

After a few hours, Lukas went back to his office and noticed Mika went missing. He called David and he also said he didn't see Mika. Lukas called Mika's number but she didn't pick up the phone. Lukas went out of his office, he was cold and aloof all of a sudden. His main priority was to find Mika, his wife, his lover. Lukas and David waited in the lobby until Mika entered. When Mika waved her hand, Lukas immediately went to her and embraced her tightly.

"What's wrong, Lukas?" She tried to calm him down.

"You were gone. Where were you?" He was worried and mad at the same time. Mika patted his back and comforted him, "I'm here now. Don't worry." Lukas calmed down and released her, "Where were you?"

"I met up with your sister. We talked about you and Anthony. Lukas, I'm sorry I didn't tell you in advance. I'm sorry I made you worried." Lukas nodded and embraced her again, "Don't make me worry about you. If you go out next time, tell me or David. I don't want you to get hurt. Okay?" Mika nodded and replied, "I promise. But Lukas, you're hugging me a bit too tight."

Lukas released his hand so Mika could breathe a little easier. She followed Lukas back to his office without saying anything else. As they sat on the sofa, Lukas drank his water to calm himself down while Mika was feeling nauseous all of a sudden. She quickly went to the washroom but she was unable to throw up anything. She was confused for a minute or two but then she noticed her period skipped for two months already.

Mika looked dumbfounded and touched her lower abdomen. She thought... could I be pregnant?
