Land Climax

The incessant ringing of the alarm was enough reason for Romeo to snap his eyes open as he reluctantly stirs on the bed. Rubbing his eyes off the grogginess that clouds them, Romeo scans the room he is in while sitting upright on the bed.

The suite he was staying in enveloped him in tranquility, it's adaptive walls shifting to a soothing sky blue hue the moment he flutters his eyes open. The air was crisp and clean, refreshed by the nanotech filtration system and scented with a subtle hint of lavender.

Rubbing his throbbing forehead with his right hand, Romeo let out a dissatisfied groan while moving his other hand along the bed. Romeo felt the softness of the bed, a masterpiece of ergonomic design adjusted to cradle his body as he sat upright with the ai-powered massage system easing the tension in his sore muscles.

Soft, golden light emanated from the ceiling, stimulating a sunrise. As Romeo got up from the bed, the suite's biometric sensors monitored his vital signs while adjusting the environment to optimise his awakened state and alertness. The windows, intelligent and opaque, opened to allow sunlight to seep into the room along with the soundscape of the bustling city without.

The suite's adaptive architecture transformed the space to suit his mood, from a calming sanctuary to a vibrant entertainment hub, complete with AI driven recommendations.

In this suite, technology and nature harmonized, rejuvenating his body and mind for the new day ahead of him. All this adaptive features of the suite happened simultaneously such that Romeo could only watch in awe as the technological marvel unfolded all around him.

To him, he seems like he has awaken into paradise or perhaps, he was still sleeping and was trapped in a dreamland. Everything around him seems to good to be true or real. Romeo observed the suite for a while before proceeding to the balcony attached to it. Immediately he arrived, he was greeted by the breathtaking view of a land flowing with milk and honey alongside advanced civilised excellence, Land Climax.

Land Climax is a city that sprawled across the horizon with a tapestry of towering skyscrapers in different shapes and lush green spaces. The atmosphere was neat and breathable, thanks to the omnipresent nanotech scrubbers that elimanted pollutants and toxins in the air. Gravity elevators connected the land's various districts, whisking citizens and visitors alike to their destinations with ease.

Holographic advertisements and information displays flickered and shone on every available surface, their AI powered messages tailored to meet individual preferences and interests.

Virtual reality contact lenses and neurological implants allowed people to seamlessly interface with the land's infrastructure, accessing vast amounts of data and entertainment with mere thoughts.

As if the wonders on the ground were not enough, Romeo cast his gaze into the sky only to be mesmerized by the fleets of autonomous vehicles hovering in the atmosphere. Their advanced navigation systems ensures safe and efficient transportation. Robots and sentient artificial intelligence walked and worked alongside humans, performing tasks ranging from menial labour to complex scientific research.

Despite the many wonders that entranced Romeo, Land Climax remains a place of unparalleled beauty and nature, with verdant parks and gardens woven throughout the urban landscape.

Romeo let his gaze wander around as far as it could before withdrawing it by closing his eyes. Breathing in the fresh air of the land that screams of architectural and natural wonders, Romeo exhaled with satisfaction as a bright smile crept onto his face.

Unlike the usual stench of the slums Romeo was familiar with, he felt that the air contained in this new land is one that purified his lungs and body with it's freshness. A small step taken through a portal brought Romeo to a world called civilization itself.

Land Climax can truly be described as the peak of civilized excellence any society would wish to create. And this newly found excellence is an assurance for the great future that Romeo is sure lies ahead of him.

*Ding: I also have to admit Romeo, this is my first time witnessing such glorious landscape."

Suddenly, a voice pops up in the mind of Romeo snapping him out of his reverie. Though the voice seems odd, it still sounds familiar as Romeo turns his head to survey the source of the voice in the suite he walked out of. Having discovered no single soul that could be the culprit of the prank his mind might be playing on him, Romeo turned his attention back to the fascinations the morning prepared for him.

*Ding: You do realise that time is being wasted the more you stay in the balcony while looking at a land whose beauty isn't going anywhere anytime soon.*

The voice pops up again jerking Romeo as he jumps up in fright. Okay, something is definitely wrong with him, Romeo thought as he moves into the suite. Having turned the whole place upside down, Romeo finally came to a conclusion that he is starting to lose it since he was unable to discover the source of the voice.

*Ding: I am hurt Romeo. We spend two days together and you don't even know about my existence."

Romeo's breathing stilled for a while as cold sweat drenched his back. It couldn't be what he is thinking. Coukd it be that he is being haunted by a ghost? Nah. Romeo dispelled the idea as the thought of being haunted by some spirit seems to only exist in a folklore.

*Ding: Tsk, tsk. At least use your head for once Romeo. Isn't it possible that ghost exists and you are now being hunted by one after all we are in a world where anything and everything seems possible.*

"Okay, who the hell are you?!" Romeo shouted out in frustration as he almost pulls a handful of his hair out. "Show yourself if you are not a coward." Romeo challenged. He was getting angry due to the fact that an unknown voice suddenly interrupts his peaceful morning with its jestful talks.

*Ding: Really, Romeo? Well I am not a coward since I have being showing myself to you since yesterday. However, since you asked nicely, I am what you can call a Carnal Consciousness.*

Romeo furrows his brows as he heard the words spouted by the voice in his head. The name 'Carnal Consciousness' seem familiar and Romeo had to rack his brain pretty hard to remember where he heard it. Having form a coherent train of thought, Romeo finally remembered the strange voice he heard the previous day when Alfred was helping him up in his feet.

"What do you mean by Carnal Consciousness?" Romeo blurted out the first question that pops up in his mind. He really needed to clear the confusion in his mind or he might turn insane owing to the amount of things he is yet to comprehend.

*Ding: Now that is a question that you should have asked from the onset. A Carnal Consciousness is specific kind of AI driven gene that helps to regulate the power vested in Shifters who possess the Carnal Gene.*

The voice explained but somehow, the explanation was not enough to quench the fire of confusion burning in the mind of Romeo. He didn't comprehend a single word the voice just said, in fact, he is thinking that it wasn't a language he is familiar with that the voice used to communicate with him.

"Could you please expantiate your explanation? I don't get a word you spoke." Romeo demanded.

*Ding: Think of a Carnal Consciousness as a companion to those who possess a Carnal Gene. However, rather than just accompanying the Carnal Shifters, Carnal Consciousnesses are like a set of computer programs which enables the regulation of the abilities possessed by a Carnal Shifter. In a layman's language, we are like a fuse to prevent excess amount of electric voltage.*

At least this explanation eventually cleared up half of his confusion. "Uhm, so what you are trying to say is that due to the awakening of my Carnal Gene, I activated you?"

*Ding: Yes Romeo. However, you are mistaken. You do not possess a Carnal Gene instead, you possess Carnal Genes. What do you think the carnal attribute 'Omnix' stands for?*

Romeo was shocked at this revelation. He did not just awaken one carnal Gene but multiple, he felt like he had finally achieve one of the greatest honour no man had ever achieved. In a world where power and strength signifies and ensures survival, the activation of multiple Carnal Genes implies that he is at the top of the food chain.

Though very few people had the ability to awaken multiple Carnal Genes, it is never impossible for an individual to do so as most leaders of a particular house of Carnal Shifters are known to possess all abilities each member of the house has. As a result, these leaders are regarded as fearsome powerhouses as a flick of their finger could cause mass destruction.

*Ding: I think you misunderstood me when I said you have multiple Carnal Genes in your DNA. What I truly meant is that your entire being is composed of Carnal Genes as you are the epitome of raw carnal attributes.*

The voice said causing confusion to cloud Romeo's judgement once more. Why does it seem like every word spoken by the Carnal Consciousness tends to come out in a way that makes them sound enigmatic?

For the years that he has dedicated himself to studying the science of Carnal Genes, never for once had Romeo come across the phenomenon of a human being composed of Carnal Genes. It is simply outrageous and impossible.

Romeo heave out a sigh as he could feel his head starting to ache due to him overworking his brain as he tries to find meaning to the words of the Consciousness.

"What do you mean by what you just said?" Romeo questions while rubbing his face with his palm.

The consciousness was about to speak when it was interupted by the voice that came from the entrance of the bedroom Romeo was staying.

"Oh, nice. You are finally awake." Alfred said as he moves to check in Romeo with a concerned look on his face.

*Ding: I guess the conversation would have to continue later, Romeo.* The Carnal Consciousness announced.
