As I was walking through the corridors I heard the heels tick tock behind me. I turned around to see who it was.
Carly stood there right behind glaring at me. She stood so close to me that I stumbled back.
"Carly, what the heck are you doing?" shocked,I asked Carly.
"Oh, little miss 'I-am-so innocent' I should ask that to you. You knew I liked Jason."
"Girl cool down, I thought-"
"You thought that you could steal him away from me just like you tried to do with Honey."
"Carly, have you lost your mind? What the hell are you talking about?" I asked. I could feel my eyes and palms starting to burn now.
"We both know what the hell I am talking about Lia, first Neil and now Jason." she hissed through her gritted teeth.
"I think gotta go now." saying that I straighten my dress and turned around. I knew I was on my edge and I had to get out there.
Trying every way to control my roller coaster of emotions I hugged myself and I was just few steps away as Carly's hand clenched my shoulder.
"Running away from the truth now, are we? Honey and I were best friends before you came along. And now all the time she is always like 'Lia this, Lia that-' I am sick of it."
"Let go Carly"
"Shut up and answer me, why did you have to come and ruin everything? Honey and I did you a favour by including you in ours plans. Have you looked at yourself? Nobody even likes you because of how weird you are."
"Enough!!" I yelled and burst into flames. My body burned in beautiful and dangerous flames. Carly retrieved her hand that was on my shoulders, having it burned badly. She looked at me with panic in her eyes.
"You're a freak." Carly whispered more to herself then to me. Something inside me broke into little pieces and tears came rolling down my cheeks; evaporating as they touched my skin. I could feel it, I could hear it.
She went running behind as I stood there on flames.
"No! Carly, listen." I cried stretching my hand towards Carly who was running away towards gym. Flames shot form my hands and met Carly's dress and it started burning as Carly entered the gym.
The chaos filled the dance floor and few guys went over to Carly trying to put out the fire. Some students looked out the gym door to see the cause of the fire. I stood there stunned, my beautiful dress on flames. Everybody panicked as they saw me.
"What is that thing?" I could hear the crowd murmur and gasp in fear.
Jason, Neil and Honey hurried around Carly who was laying unconsciously on the floor now. Her dress burned out half and her skin all burnt. Neil pulled out his coat over Carly as Honey dialed on her phone to call for medical help. Teachers were trying to control the panicked students.
Jason started at me. He walked towards me. Like he wasn't scared. Like he wanted to hold me. But I knew it was only in my mind.
"Mr. Jason, get back here." A teacher shouted from behind.
"No. Everyone,It's ok. She's not a monster. It's Lia." He said as he slowly made his way to me.
I didn't knew what to do. I was sacred. I looked what I had done to Carly. The sirens' sound filled my ears and I could think of nothing but to run away.
I knew exactly what I had to do to get out of there. The extreme flames roared around me and I flew out breaking the ceiling.
As I took off ,the once white rose fell down on the floor, burnt dark. Jason reached out for the rose and gently took it in his hands; careful enough so that he won't turn it into ashes.
Like a shooting star on the night sky, the cool night breeze hit my face and the tears flowed off my eyes. I landed in front of my house and as flames died. They were right. I was a freak. All I ever did was hurt people around me.
My dress was all burnt out. I hugged my naked body as I silently but hurriedly went inside my house.
My parents were asleep in their rooms, it was almost 10 at night. I went in my room crying and packed up my bag, wearing some decent clothes. I wrote a letter and left it on my bed and ran away.
