"Oh, he should be at work right now." I didn't want to lie but I had to, to keep my dad safe. Should I really be helping him though? From what I understand, he is a criminal. He's my father though. He raised me and fed me. He's kept me safe. I don't know anymore. "Alright, you stay outside untill we come back," Policeman one said.

"Lina, do as you said and stay out here with here."

"Yes sir!" Lina replied.

"Also, chief, stay safe this guy can be dangerous."

"Don't fret about it. Anyways if this goes smoothly, we will have a bigger problem," the chief quickly nodded is head at me as to signal something concerning me. The worried expression on his face scared me. Did this "bigger problem" have something to do with me? Was it something bad? Did I do something wrong? Thoughts were running through my head. I was finally going outside, but clearly the real situation wasn't good.

When the two police went into my house, I started looking around. There was a slight breeze outside, and it felt wonderful. Being inside all the time you don't get to feel natural wind. The grass, the trees, everything was so amazing. I wanted to see it all, so I start with the grass. I walked over to a tree, bent down to feel the grass, then investigated the tree. "What are you doing?" Lina asked. Thinking it was pretty clear I just say,

"Exploring."

"Why? Have you never been outside before?" "No," I said, not really wanting to talk much. I was far to interested to. She seemed to be more interested now, for she continued to ask,

"How come?" Now a bit annoyed by all the questions I simply say,

"My dad," hoping she would stop asking.

After that she didn't say much, so I keep exploring. I really loved the butterflys. I've only seen them in books, so it was cool to see them for real. Eventually I had completely forgotten the situation with my dad and the police. Sadly enough as soon as I did, Lina called me over.

"Rain, come back here please, my comrades are about to come out." I didn't say anything as a walked over. When I got to her, the other two police walked out of my house up to her. They shook their heads at her then started talking. I wasn't able to hear what they were saying though. I was distracted still by everything.

During the time they were talking, one of them went to their car to grab a few papers out. After a while they came to me, and the chief said,

"I'm going to show you a picture, and I would like you to tell me if you know this person or not." I agreed and they took one of the papers and showed it to me.

"Yeah I know him. He's my dad." When I said this there expression changed. They looked worried again.

"Alright, I'm going to show you another. I want you to do the same thing," Lina said. Then she showed me another picture with a woman on it.

"That's... my mother," I said, my eyes starting to tear up.

"My dad said that she left, and that she would be back when I'm older." Their expressions got worse.

"Oh dear, I'm afraid that's not the truth. You see your mother is... dead, she was killed," Lina said sadly. I started crying, and fell to my knees. Lina quickly came to my aid hugging me, saying,

"I'm so sorry Rain, I wish I could help."

I just sat there for bit just crying. I had thought that she might be dead, but I hoped with all my heart, it wasn't true. It was just a bit hard knowing it was true. I wanted to be strong for her though, so I calm down a bit and ask, "Who killed her?" The police looked at each other and one said, "Your dad."
