Bratdor Village

"Good morning, horsey, ready to continue our journey?" I smiled at my horse as I untied him from the tree.

I picked a shelter right near a tree on the grassland. I slept well, but the morning was very cold morning. My breath let out the white air. My uniform was adequate to protect me from the cold, it was designed for that.

I got on top of the horse and galloped my horse. The journey would come to an end, eventually. I followed the road, and the lively village was on the horizon. Unlike Olbora, this place looked lively.

People were trading in the center of the village. There were more than twenty houses in the village, in comparison to zero in Olbora village. The adventurers walked in and out of the guild office. Besides the village was a potato field, and farmers were working in the field.

On the far side, a mansion was standing tall with its servants walking around it. Truth be told, I was jealous when I looked at this village. If the landlord and Lobus did their job competently, Olbora village might be different.

However, to hell with that, I was looking for bounty. Would I find the merchant here, though? Or would I just be here without anything to do? Well, I could ask the question later, when I arrived at the guild office.

The horse walked slowly in the city street. Did I look hostile, though? Nah, the adventurers carried bigger swords than my launcher. Besides, it looked like a big green tube that I carried on my back, nothing suspicious.

I tied down my horse on a pole in front of the guild office. How to find the goshdarn bloody person, though? The bounty might pass or might not go past this village. At this point, due to the lack of information, it might be a good idea to just take another bounty from the guild office in this village.

Maybe, just maybe, a bounty in a bigger village would be worth more money than the bounty in a small village, such as in Olbora village. Well, I'd be lying if that thought hadn't crossed my mind at this point.

I entered the guild office. The first floor was similar to the guild office in Olbora, but the restaurant was functional with many adventurers eating at the table on that floor. I approached the guild receptionist.

"Good morning, how may I help you?" The receptionist asked. She was more professional than Sumia. Maybe the lack of visitors made her forget the protocol?

"Emm, I'm looking for a quest with more than 100,000 Arleum, do you know where can I find any?" I asked her.

"Well, sir, you can look at the quest board at the utmost right, you might find the quest that suits your need," she smiled.

"Thanks."

So, the arrangement was also similar, huh? Well, thank God, I didn't have to know the layout of the guild office. I headed for the quest board to search for the most suitable quest for me. However, I noticed that the difficulty of the quest was madder.

For example, one of the quests was to destroy a bandit headquarters. One quest asked me to assassinate a rogue mercenary, and one quest asked me to destroy the estate of a noble that turned his back on the country. To be honest, this smelled like there was something brewing inside of the kingdom.

The quest to kill a noble paid the most. Of course, I took the quest, the reward was four times the reward for the bounty that I'd need to search. I gave the quest paper to the guild receptionist and she gave me a file filled with papers.

"Here you go, happy hunting, be careful of the royal guards, though," she said.

"Thanks for the warning," I said.

I sat down at one of the tables in that guild office. I opened the document. The target's name was Baron Mosfett. His location was on the north of Bratdor village, around 20 km north of it, to be exact.

His distance from the nearest big city was 10 km. His hair was jet black. One of his horns was broken. He was the young noble that opposed the king's order for more autonomy. In that regard, he needed to be sent a message.

Of course, it was quite a juicy bounty, to be entirely honest. Of course, I'd need to fire my anti-structure munition at the precise moment and precise spot to destroy the estate and kill the noble. For that reason, I brought the anti-structure munition.

His appearance stood up quite well too. It wouldn't be hard to spot where the noble would be working. I could scout his position from meters away and shot my launcher at the window. It would surely kill the noble.

Still, what the political consequence would be for this country, though? A baron wasn't exactly a high position, but it certainly would have an impact in the grand scheme of things, right? Let's just hope that he would be easy to kill.

Alright, I made my decision, time to abandon the tracking quest and just headed straight for that noble's mansion. I stood up from the chairs, put the file into my backpack, and headed outside once again. I got to the top of my horse and galloped it in the north direction.
