Fire Spark

My hair was blazing like a wildfire, my right eye lit up with potent mana before I closed my eyes trying to keep from losing complete control.

The sergeant stood up from where he was sitting and leaned forward while putting his arms on the desk as if daring me to strikeout. "Pathetic." the man.

My eyes blazed open and orange started to creep into my other eye and fire cascaded down my both arms. Just before I could anything, stone shot up and covered the man's fist that was swinging and moving towards my face like lightning. I was sent flying out of the office and landed halfway into the road some 7 meters away from the entrance in a heap.

"This is what makes you fucking fire sparks so predictable! All I have to do is ignite the spark of anger hidden in every one of you, and you become unthinking animals!" The man yelled as he marched out the door towards me.

All-consuming anger started to make me see red! As I got up to my feet in a flash and threw my hand out to both sides as if I was preparing for a hug, fire exploded out of my arms in great swaths. Both my eyes glowed with an inner flame. The flames started to elongate in my hands and started to ignite the grass on the edge of the road.

Sergeant Kase just kept marching up to me as the ground behind him started to rumble loudly, he swung another fist towards me once again testing to see if I would attack mindlessly or if I could reason and defend myself. 'Just how much mana can this boy use at once!' the man thought in his head as he prepared his Terra mana to use against the boy that he had pushed into a rage.

He didn't want to hurt him too badly, he just wanted to get the full depth of the "Strong Fire Body" that was displayed on the first page of the boy's file in big bold writing.

Fire mages only exhibited their true strength when pushed into an emotional state, it could be anything from anger as shown by the boy, or extreme happiness or any other emotion as long as it was all-consuming.

As the Sergeant swung at my face it looked like it was in slow motion this time, I gathered up the fire flowing down my arm into my palm and slapped at the side of his hand that was halfway to my face already.

As the to hands collided Kase's surprise was a thing to see, it wasn't only the boy's hand that had been blown back but also his fist was pushed outwards missing the boy entirely as Bruni got into Seargent Kase's guard albeit with one hand out of position so he did what Commander Harriot did, back to me at the yard back at the village, I head-butted him with every bit of power I could muster.

The man just took the hit and smiled at me as my vision blurry as pain exploded in my head and I fell onto my knees in front of the sergeant who just looked down at me before kicking the side of my face without a trace of emotion in his face. "Fucking fire sparks." He said to the growing crowd of spectating soldiers that had bin walking down the road to which they all laughed as if it was some great joke.

I awoke sometime later in a room lined with beds on each side that were all empty besides the one I was in. "w...water," I tried to rasp out. My mouth was so dry and my head felt so fuzzy, 'what the hell happened? Where is this?' I wondered in confusion.

Just then a glass of water was held in my vision as, "Drink boy" a voice called out that and it sounded like that dick of a sergeant that Mr. Flint...., instantly I remembered what had happened and why I was in what looked like an infirmary bed!

'I got my ass kicked again!' I yelled at myself in my mind as I grabbed the offered water. "Sorry, sir," I mumbled out before taking a drink.

"Not your fault Bruni, I had to know what your file meant when it said you had a strong fire body. Turns out it's quite the talent you have boy, and I'm sorry for provoking you but it must be done or else no one could see your true strength, it just happens that your trigger is anger. It isn't uncommon and is one of the easier triggers to activate but also one of the strongest .... if controlled properly" he said with kindness on his face. "We aren't provoking just trying for fun, we need to see your true capability. The fastest way to do that is to piss you off," he said apologetically as he took the now empty glass of water and set it on the side table.

"you made me use Terra mana or as the common folk calls it Earth mana, that in itself is an achievement. Not every day you see a Firemage trainee capable of pushing a full Terra enhanced fist to the side if only a little." he said as he smiled down from me where he stood."

"I'm Sergent Kace, your commanding officer, and trainer for the next few months. I'm going to see if I can give you some control of that temper of yours, even if I have to literally beat it into you.!" the Sergent laughed out as he helped me to stand from the bed.

"Thank you, sir!" I responded with a salute, " sorry again sir. I will try to learn from this lesson. I said with embarrassment showing on my face.
