Bright Academy

School for gifted students is an understatement. Bright Academy was a school on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Felix Oppong was one of the over thirty students in the forty square kilometer sized college, for good reason...

THE DUEL 1

The time of the duel came and there weren't that many spectators as not a lot of people knew us.

Only my roommates and probably his roommates made it and some teachers.

This duel was actually more important than I used to think as some of the teachers were from class 1, the class I had to graduate to...provided I won.

I stood on the sports field. I could sense a lot of water within the grasses and even in the ground, but hadn't practiced removing it from the ground yet, and the epidermal tissue would have prevented me from taking the water in the grasses, I had to use the water in the air.

And luckily, there was just enough.

The referee came and stated the rules and left, I had already decided what to do.

I had no idea what his light was, but he was both an Energon and a Mantter.

The referee blew the whistle and he stretched his hand and the air started warping like it was water and I quickly made a wall of water to block it.

It evaporated the water and I then understood it.

' He controls energy! But that only makes him an Energon, or does he have two different lights? ' I thought while dodging the death ray.

He shook his hand as if it was hot, or cold.

He then shot a blast of lightning from his other hand and I made a fist sized sphere of water.

The lighting exploded through it and went on to hit me, burning my chest.

I felt a sudden surge of pain as I fell down.

I stood up slowly and he started running towards me.

I had realized he was faster than usual and was about to make him slip when I remembered what his father said.

I took a deep breath and stayed put then he gave me a close line.

I landed on my back and saw the puzzled expression on his face as he told me to get up.

I slowly did then he hit my chest and I went, flying out of the circle.

The first round was over and I was healed by an Atom(control atoms) teacher and a Braud(control the body of any animal) nurse.

I was preparing for the next round then I sensed a blob gradually appear behind me.

I looked back to see Franklin and he was frowning.

I smiled slightly and said hi then he said,"What are you doing?"

"Doing the duel I guess?"I responded.

"No you're not, you're letting me win."He said.

"No, you're just that much better than me."I said.

"Stop lying, you have the advantage by being at a higher level, why are you doing this?"He asked impatiently.

"...I heard what your dad said yesterday and didn't want you to have to crawl back to him."I said.

He rolled his eyes and said,"My dad is always like that and even if he disowns me, my mom won't, she loves me to bits."

' My mom too... ' I thought.

"Do your best, because I want to beat you fair and square."He said.

I nodded.

The second round began and the referee was mentioning the rules and I condensed some water to be prepared, but I started to suffocate.

I had no idea why until I realized, there was no water in the air around my torso, I condensed all of it.

I took a step back and in two seconds, I could breathe again, then I got a strategy.

The referee asked if I was okay and I replied in the affirmative. Then he blew the whistle.

Franklin blasted electricity at me and I made distilled water to insulate it then blasted that same water at him.

His reflexes were slow so he couldn't dodge and took two steps back.

He tried blasting heat but I held his hand at his back and kicked him forward then condensed dew on the grass.

He slipped and fell then I made the water on the grass to carry him to the edge.

He was heavy and the task was tedious, but I was determined.

I felt a sudden surge of energy and knew my emotions were taking over, I had to stay in control.

He realized he was getting dangerously close to the circumference of the circle and hit his hand on the ground.

There was a lot more resistance and it was tiring me out so I got an idea.

I pretended to be fainting and he did a kip up then I immediately blasted him and he fell out of the circle.

We took a five minute break before the final round then the referee stated the rules.

I got into a defensive stance and looked him in the eye, he had a mix of emotions in his countenance, joy for finally finding a real opponent and anger that I was winning, I just hoped they didn't get the best of him.

The round started and he began with a blast of lightning.

I realized it was a character of his to usually use electricity first so it was easy for me to dodge.

I did a safety roll and blasted water at him and he dodged but I circled the water back and hit him in the back.

He stumbled forward and I kicked him in the chest.

I'd realized that electric blast had slowed down his reflexes.

I blasted water at him but he turned in time to shoot heat.

The water was absorbing the heat and evaporating roughly at the centre of the circle, but because I had a higher level, the water was slowly making its way towards him, just then the water stopped flowing, so as the radiation...

He was breathing heavily as he said,"I'm too exhausted to use my light."

I replied,"Me too."

"Let's finish this..."He said.

He sprinted towards me and threw a fist at my face.

I wasn't experienced in head to head combat so my reflexes and attacks were naturally slow.

He managed to punch me across the face and kick me down.

I began to get scared of him, but had to stay brave, otherwise my light could hurt him.

He tried to stomp on my head but I rolled away in time.

I got up as quickly as I could but he kicked me right in the chin.

I fell on my back, aching all over and terrified then he threw a fist at my face and I yelled...
