Bright Academy

School for gifted students is an understatement. Bright Academy was a school on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Felix Oppong was one of the over thirty students in the forty square kilometer sized college, for good reason...

Thanks to my dad, everyone was safe, but he insisted on giving me the credit for saving everyone, it was a whole hour's debate on who saved everyone, but my mom eventually ended it by saying we both did. That was fair.

We continued living in the camp in South Korea and I registered to become one of the teachers, and was doing great.

The new camp was a dream and all the people were far happier than they were in Bright Academy as they were allowed to visit their families whenever they wanted and my dad payed for their transport if they needed any. Also they weren't forced to compete in duels, though they were allowed to to get better.

This is because, duelling was very stressful and left the losers feeling like, well, losers.

My dad hated it when people's self esteem was crushed like this, as he told me.

My mom and dad were actually doing better and it was easy to imagine why they got married, but impossible to imagine why they were almost divorced, they loved each other.

I also searched arduously for Anneliese, but I never found her.

I asked her extended family and they thought she was dead, that was a death blow to me.

I cried for days after that, but continued searching, at least for her body.

A child was crying in her mother's arms, then a girl was just thrown into the room.

The man and woman ran to embrace her and they wept bitterly, the family had seen all the terrible things they had done to their daughter, to Anneliese, and wondered why such an innocent girl will suffer so much.

She whispered something and her father asked her to repeat herself then she said,"He's coming, Felix is coming to rescue me."

Then she started to laugh, she was going mad...

I was walking into one of my classes and sensed the students whispering about how hot I was. I was used to this by now so I wanted to begin the lesson but when I looked on the smart board, there was a message written in lipstick.

It was a love letter and a number.

I turned back after using an illusion to show me who it was then said,"René, please meet me after class."

I could sense her friend talking about how lucky she was that I got the message.

After class, all the students walked out but René walked towards my desk.

She was a pretty girl who had blonde hair and silver- white eyes with black lines radiating from her pupils, using an illusion, I could tell she was a teleporter...rare.

She also wore quite cute glasses and always had a pencil on her ear as she was always doodling, but never in my class, then, she was ogling.

She was actually quite talented in art and I looked at all these features and decided, I was not interested. But I had to let her down nicely.

"René, I..."I began.

"I know, you don't like me, but it's just because you haven't moved on and I don't blame you, but I just wanted to get to know you better, can we at least be friends?"

I was quiet for a few seconds then said,"Fine."

"A sixteen year old on level 9! That dude is so awesome!"

"Meh, he just got powered up by gamma radiation exposure."

"But so did you."

"..."

I sensed this and many other conversations all around the camp with over a hundred and sixteen people, staff and students. They used to be ninety, but after the incident back at Bright Academy, some of the students moved here, though the rest decided to go home.

I wasn't used to seeing so many people in one place after so many years in Bright Academy, in fact, back there, the class with the most students, which was class 3, had only ten.

I walked into the Principal's office and there met my dad, looking handsome as usual.

He looked a lot younger than his age, being thirty six, he looked like a twenty year old.

He had also combed his hair back for once, he always used to let it run wild, but now, it was tamed and decent.

He stood up the moment I walked in then said,"Son, it's a pleasure, but how can I help you?"

"There was a fight between two students in the cafeteria, the whole place is destroyed."

"Yeah, I sensed it."

"Then why didn't you do anything about it?"

"Because in that case I would be only fanning the flames. They'd find another way to fight if I stopped them, possibly in a duel and might over do it, so it was best just to let them settle their own differences."

"But they're severely injured."

"I know, but they would have to learn to control their emotions in the future, you can't just get hysterical when you have a light, you should know better than anyone."

I nodded.

"I think you should start teaching them about lights and emotions now."

"Okay, thanks dad."

That night, my dad and I were welcomed to our home by a tantalising aroma.

I sniffed the air with my eyes closed and sensed my dad disappear and reappear in the kitchen.

My dad appeared right behind my mom and held her by the waist and she was startled.

She calmed down when she realized it was he then continued making dinner.

He traveled his hands up her body to her shoulders and her legs started wobbling.

He then sent his hands back down and lifted her up and she was scared.

He dropped her and held her between his arms and they looked into each others' eyes then placed their heads together.

They brought them closer for a kiss, then my dad said,"Could we please have some privacy?"

Without looking, he knew I was there. I grumbled as I walked away.

Dinner was served and my dad and I were chatting away the evening about things we had in common, then my mom cleared her throat for attention, it didn't work.

Then she started gently hitting a wine flute with a dessert spoon, it still didn't work.

It was either we were ignoring her or too distracted.

She half closed her eyes at this thought then smashed the glass on the floor.

We both yelled as we got headaches then frowned at her then she said,"As I wanted to say, I have something important to tell you."

I tilted my head and my dad walked over to her then whispered in her ear,"You can tell me anything, love."

Then he ran his fingers through her long hair.

She looked nervous as she proceeded,"I'm pregnant."
