The "Kiss"

"Let's catch up with the others." He said kissing my forehead. A growl met my ears and my eyes immediately snapped back to Jaxson.

He no longer had the girl in his lap. He was standing with his hands balled into fists on his side. I could see in his eyes that he was fighting back his wolf to stand down. The girl who was sitting on his lap earlier had placed a hand on his arm. Probably trying to calm him down. If only she knew he already had a mate, she'd know I was the only one who would be able to calm him down. He shook her arm off not once breaking eye contact with me.

"What is taking the two of you-" Kylee began to ask until she saw Jaxson. "Aw, is the big bad Alpha to be jealous?" She asked in a mocking tone. "Oh well, his loss. Let's go." She said pulling us out of the shop.

Finally after making it to the school building we ventured into the already crowded hallway. We passed our fellow pack members mingling amongst themselves as well with people from the different packs. It was good to see them at least making an effort to get along with the other wolves here.

"Time to compare classes!" Ava said stopping in front of a row of lockers which just so happened to be all of ours. We pulled out our schedules and lined them all up.

First - History with Kylee and Max

Second - Calculus with Kylee and Max again

Break

Third - English which we all have

Fourth - Biology with all of them again

Lunch

Fifth - Creative writing with Kayden and Max

Sixth - Defense/Offense tactics and training (shifting version of Phys ED) which we all have.

I wondered if my parents had somehow pulled some strings so that I always had two or all of my friends with me in all of my classes. If they did I had better send my thanks.

Throughout my morning classes, I realized that Jaxson was in every single one of them so far. Isn't that just freaking great? I tried to ignored him and his glares as best as I could and tried my best not to acknowledge the glares that he would toss over to Max. I don't know what his issue was. He's the one who rejected me so he shouldn't be getting all antsy about anything.

"Your mate is staring pretty hard over there," Max whispered in my ear during lunch.

"Really? I hadn't noticed." I shrugged pushing or more like playing around the salad I had gotten for lunch.

"Hard not to. He's been at it since we sat down." He said.

I looked up and Max was indeed right, Jaxson was glaring daggers from across the room with the same girl from this morning once again sitting on his lap. His glare softened a bit when his eyes met mine. What the heck was that about? I shook it off and went back to staring at my untouched lunch. Somewhere between the lunch line and now, I lost my appetite.

"Should we give him something to stare at?" Max asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.

"I know!" Ava piped up "You two should give him a reason to kind of like make him jealous."

"Why would I want to make him jealous?" I asked completely lost as to where my friends are going with this conversation.

"Okay then, bad choice of words," Ava mumbled.

"This is the second time today that he's had the same girl wrapped around him like a damn lap dog," Kylee said. "He thinks that's alright for him to do that, but, if Max or any other guy so much as gets too close to you, he looks about ready to lose it. All you have to do is show him that you aren't going to sit around moping because of him. Like your Anna says: 'Fake it till you make it!'"

"Just fake it till you make it," Max said whispering grasping my chin with his forefinger and thumb.

"This is insane," I whispered back finally realising what they wanted me to do.

"Not like we haven't done it before." He mumbled--his breath fanning against my face.

"That's not the point," I said just as his lips pressed against mine.

His words were true. He and I had tried out the whole lone-wolf-friends-dating thing. It had gone pretty considering we had been together for a good amount of six months. We ended it on good terms. We knew we'd be better off as just friends. This kiss isn't the Earth-shattering kind, but, it was familiar and in no way awkward. A growl rumbled through the room along with something hitting the wall.

"DAMN IT!" Jaxson roared.

We broke apart long enough for me to see Jaxson storm off out of the lunch room. I know you're wondering if I felt bad about what Max and I had just done. Nope, not one single bit. That may make me seem a bit evil, but, whatever I don't care. If he can have a girl hanging all over him, then I can do whatever the heck I damn well, please. My wolf however did not like what I had done, well tough luck.

Everyone in the room had done the same. We all knew how bad our tempers could get so no one seemed at all fazed by what just happened. Max jumped into a conversation that the rest of our group was having. I however went back to staring at my lunch thinking about absolutely nothing. My mind was a blank canvas, that was until something very cold and very wet was dumped over my head. One thought went through my brain: 'what the heck!'

I looked up and all my friends were staring at me in shock. I turned slowly to find out who had spilled their drink on me. It just so happened to be the girl who had been Jaxson's lap dog as Kylee would say. She stood there with a smug look on her face.
