Chapter 4

“Ooh,” she said as she ran her fingers across my shoulder, “it feels as beautiful as it looks.”

While flattered by the heaping words of praise, I couldn’t wait for the evening to end so I could go home, undress, bury the jacket in the back of the closet, and never wear or think about it again. I also couldn’t wait to go home and be alone with Clay. Even though he’d annoyed me with the unwanted gift, I knew all would be forgiven later when we climbed into bed. I looked at him across the table. His dark hair needed a trim and his gray eyes were hidden behind glasses because his contacts were irritating him, but he still looked as handsome as ever. I loved him so much.

When Clay and I got home, we could barely keep our hands off each other. I hadn’t even gotten fully undressed when Clay pushed me onto the bed and climbed on top of me.

“Can I at least take my pants off before you ravage me?” I asked.

“Yes, but leave the jacket on.”
