Curious as to who it was, but aware that it would be considered snooping, Jiang Yingyue was torn between the urge to go check it out or behave properly and stay on the sofa.
She heard some faint voices, and she perked her ears, but she was incapable of understanding what was being said.
After around ten minutes, Han Qingshan came back into the living room; in his hand was a set of keys that seemed sparkling new.
He took one key out of the bundle and handed it over to Jiang Yingyue. "Take this," he said. "Since you will be staying here for a bit, you ought to have a key to the place so that you can come and leave as you please."
Jiang Yingyue was stunned when accepting the key. The person who had just arrived was a locksmith?
Seeing her silly expression, Han Qingshan chuckled, and explained, "I can't have the same thing happening again. So I will be more careful about who gets a key to my home in the future."
Hearing his words, she could not help but glance at the key in her hand, but she was reminding herself that she would return it as soon as she moved out.
"I spoke with Tang Meixing, and she was not willing to apologize," he continued, his voice suddenly turning cold. "She has been spoiled rotten by me, and it is a shame that she doesn't even behave when I ask her too. She is far too old for this childish behavior."
Hearing that his voice was not sounding too sweet, Jiang Yingyue was somewhat relieved. But after hearing the words that made them sound very close, her mood soured again, and she looked away from Han Qingshan.
"Your girlfriend wasn't very nice," she muttered, her voice unintentionally full of resentment.
Han Qingshan was stumped when he saw the resentful expression of Jiang Yingyue, and then he started laughing slightly. Why was this Jiang Yingyue so cute?
"She isn't my girlfriend, she is my cousin," he said. "Her father died when she was young, so our family has taken extra care of both her and her mother since she was without a father. She grew up like a sister to me."
Jiang Yingyue's heart suddenly beat faster than before when she heard his words that were filled with amusement. She blushed and looked away from him, embarrassed by her behavior, which made her seem jealous.
As that realization hit her, she was stunned by her own thoughts. Was she really jealous? Just because she had found a friend did not mean that she had exclusive rights to him. She had to learn how to share, and a brilliant man like him was bound to have plenty of women by his side, and one day he would marry one of them.
Although she was trying to calm herself down, she was still feeling uncomfortable when she realized that Han Qingshan one day would belong to some woman; most likely a rich miss from the upper class much like He Yuyan.
Seeing that she was avoiding his eyes, Han Qingshan said nothing, but he could not help but feel that she was extremely adorable as she was seated there in front of him. Her cheeks blushed red, her lips slightly pursed, and her brows furrowed as if she was thinking about something uncomfortable.
Was this friend of his really gay? If he did not know better, he would think that there was some jealousy in her voice before. Otherwise, why would she put so much focus on Tang Meixing being his girlfriend, and have such an obvious reaction when she was told that she wasn't?
Oddly enough, he was not grossed out by it. Instead, he felt his heart getting somewhat warm. Although he was certain that he was not gay, he was not as averse to that sexuality as he had been before.
Jiang Yingyue was unaware that her behavior had caused her to be misunderstood as gay in Han Qingshan's world, but if she knew she would have rejoiced.
Being viewed as gay, even if they were good friends, there would forever be a certain distance between them, or so she would assume.
"I need to take a shower, I've been working all day," Han Qingshan suddenly said. "If anyone appears while I am in the shower, just open the door for me; my assistant should be bringing some documents for me to work on tonight."
Jiang Yingyue nodded her head absentmindedly as Han Qingshan went to the bathroom.
Leaning back on the couch, Jiang Yingyue turned on the TV again, watching the news, but there had been no change in the situation. In fact, everyone was puzzled as to why Imperial World was so passive.
They had said nothing, made no official statements either. They had accepted all the fees for the breach of contracts, but they had not even tried to keep a hold of the artists that wanted to leave. It was as if it did not matter to them who left and who stayed.
It was a messy scene, but Jiang Yingyue was very worried about Han Qingshan. She knew that he had not given up, but so much had happened with her recently that had taken up much of his time, causing her to feel guilty.
She was about to pour herself a glass of water when someone knocked on the door. She heard that the water from the shower in the bathroom was still running, and remembering what he had asked her before he entered, she moved towards the door, opening it.
Outside was a young man who seemed to be in the middle of his twenties. He was wearing a neat suit, and a pair of glasses was placed on the bridge of his nose.
He looked surprised when he saw Jiang Yingyue in the door, doing a double take when he saw how handsome and elegant this person looked.
Being Han Qingshan's assistant, he had obviously heard about Jiang Yingyue before. Now that he was face to face with her, he had to admit that she seemed rather likable, but this person had also caused quite some troubles for Han Qingshan, so he was rather conflicted about his emotions.
