The fork that pierced the chicken paused; Ashley froze; she looked strangely at Louise. As far as Ashley can remember, she never told him about her strange dreams; Louise just found out she had a terrible headache, that's all. At that moment, she asked him about her dream, but Ashley came to her senses.
"How did you know I was dreaming?" Ashley looks weird on Louise.
Louise sputtered, his left hand on the top of his thigh clenched tight, his jaw hardened. Louise remembered hearing that when he heard it in the infirmary. The cool sweat oozes from the pores of his palms.
"Hmm …." Louise's breath was catching. "I-i'm just guessing." It popped out of his mouth, hoping Ashley would believe it, but she didn't.
"What a wild guess that was." Her brow is furrowed.
Louise was speechless, and he didn't know what else to say. How could he be caught off guard? Ashley looked at him with all questions; it was in the girl's eyes.
"What are you talking about? So serious."
