Chapter one: Birthday
Ailani... someone's here to see you honey"mum said from downstairs."Coming mum"I shouted, struggling to get my pants on.
"Mum what's wr....."I couldn't even complete my words because I saw him....yes HIM,'Kyle' my best friend and secret crush,he stood by the foot of the stairs, ten steps away.
I was so surprised that I didn't know my mouth had been open since I saw him, looking like a total fool...i mentally face-palmed myself.
"You...why are you here?" I said, sounding very pissed,but I actually felt the opposite,I felt joy on seeing him after six years but my anger clouded my rationality.
"Hello Ailani,how are you?"he finally spoke after what seemed like forever. "As you can see Kyle,I'm very well...now get out"I knew I sounded really mean but I didn't care,I shouldn't,he left me six years ago...I cried everyday for a month with my parents trying their possible best to console me and after a while I seemed to get over the fact he left me without even so much as a goodbye but I couldn't get over my feelings for him.
"I know you're angry Lani,but you should hear me out please...can we talk outside?" he asked,his eyes pleading with me not to dismiss him, besides he used the name I loved,the name he gave me as an abbreviation of my full name,I just couldn't resist. "Fine...,Mum I'll be back" I shouted to mum who had scurried off to the kitchen immediately I came downstairs.
We strolled out to the mum's small garden which she planted a few flowers and herbs. "Ailani I'm sorry,I'm really sorry for taking off like that without informing you,I was really urgent for my parents then and they wouldn't even explain to me why we had to leave that night...I was sad and angry but there was nothing I could do Lani,I was helpless"he said in one go. I turned to him after awhile of walking around mum's mini garden, looking at him, trying to see how much he had changed.
'He didn't change much,he still had his beautiful ebony black hair,his to-die for eyes,one a smokey silver and the other a beautiful forest green eyes...a beautiful combination right,down to his nose that was so perfectly sculptured I felt insecure about mine for a minute and his slim moist pink lips.
At that moment,I realised that Kyle wasn't the sixteen year old Kyle I knew, standing before me was a drop dead gorgeous man,that even the gods wouldn't dare compare with him..gosh this man is perfect' I signed.
"So you just want me to forgive you Kyle?...
do you even have an idea of how much I was hurting,how much I cried,how much mum and dad had to bear because of me" I was hurt I won't lie but like he said,it's wasn't his fault and we were both kids then. "I'm not asking you to forgive me immediately Lani,I was hurt too but I couldn't help it" he looked sad,he looked pained. I shouldn't be causing him so much hurt than he already had to bear.
"Come here" I said, stretching my arms wide for a hug with a small smile, "I've terribly missed you Kyle,you have no idea" I said snuggling closer to him as he felt very warm and smelt so great.
"Thank you Lani and I've missed you too",he gently kissed my forehead and hugged me tight like the wind would take me away from him. "And by the way, Happy birthday Lani darling" he said as he pulled away and stared at me...oh my gosh,I could feel my heartbeat on my palms,his face was so close.
"Th...thank you" I stammered,my face felt red and I could bet my brains I was as red as a tomato right now. He chuckled and pulled completely away,that was when I felt the chilly breeze and immediately hugged myself.
"You should go inside Lani, before you catch a cold now,he said taking my hands as we walked back to the house.
"I haven't given you your birthday gift Lani and it's almost past ten...close your eyes,I have something for you"he said.
I immediately did and what happened next almost gave me a stroke...my eyes flew open as I stared at his face which was on mine,he gave me a peck on the lips and withdrew.
'OH MY GOODNESS,he kissed me' my heart did a somersault,he kissed me.
"Happy birthday Lani darling"he said and smiled...not the smile,I could nose bleed because of how dashing he looked right now with his left cheeks dimple.
I never knew I was this bold until I kissed him back,it was so sudden...I was scared I crossed the line but I couldn't care less,I kissed him with everything I had for him for all this years.
We parted panting like crazy and grinning form ear to ear."That was mind blowing Lani" he smiled and hugged me,"come on,let's get you inside before you catch a cold.
