The Dueler’ Ingress

~•Rialdus•~

The music was on the peak of clamorous crescendo. Different hues of colors flickering, humans are drinking and dancing in beat, it's chaotic and any moment it will made me fall in vertigo.

Humans revel, wallowing the night; desiring life.

"Brother, humans' way of life will bring me to torment," I spoke to Xaldrius whose eyes wandered around.

"I love your Vampire look! Halloween's season is over, pretty boys!" A young lady who's wasted, approached us, and make fun of us.

I disgust human. I felt like I'm allergic to them when they come near me, maybe it's just my senses steer clear of them to be my meal. For a hundred of years, I haven't eaten nor taste a human. They were once my kind, I can't stand doing such monstrous act.

"Stay away, human," I said in an attitude way to drove her off.

"Let's get out of this hell, brother," I uttered and walked towards the door. Xaldrius followed.

"Where can we find that mortal?" Xaldrius asked.

My brother is right. We don't have any idea where to find that woman, we only have her vision. This quest was different among all, unlike before, we just capture mortals that smells worthy enough to be an offering to the Queen, but this one, it's a matter of unearthing a woman whose identity was concealed. We don't have any trace of her whereabouts. We don't know what her bloods smells like to locate her. Only what she looks like.

"I don't know, brothe—" My words cut off when someone bumped into my shoulder, that made my body froze, causing me to unlock a vision. With eyes turning black, absorbing energy from that human's soul. I can sense her soul withstood the ravages of time but this time I saw tragedy and danger coming to her.

I vision mortal's destiny the moment I touched their skin, a premonition.

It's one of the abilities I possess, that I and Xaldrius only knows. We kept our abilities to the Queen. All they know we're weak thrall, unbeknownst to them, Xaldrius and I, possess abilities far beyond their reach. Maybe that's the reason the Queen have disciples eyeing on us.

I gasped for breath when my vision came back to reality. I'm now eyeing on the woman who just passed on us, and now walking on the streets.

"Brother, what's happening?" Xaldrius asked with obvious concern.

"The woman is in danger," I said, almost a whisper. Xaldrius followed the direction where I'm looking.

"Let's help her," Xaldrius said and is about to follow the woman, but I grip his wrist, to stop him.

"Our time is finite. We must focus on our quest," I insisted.

"But you said her life is in danger, she needs our help," Xaldrius insisted. We may turn into sinister of ghastly character most of the time due to our responsibilities but good still reigns in our blood. It will prevail, I doubted it won't.

"We should not interfere with human life...their destiny is not ours to hold," I spoke with guilt.

"We don't own their destiny, but we own ours. Do you vision our destiny to be merciless forever?" I looked at Xaldrius eyes.

Between us, Xaldrius have a heart of gold.

"We witnessed death countless of times, in front of us. We've been living for a hundred of years hiding into this monstrous identity. We once have a heart that's beating for love, we're once...a human, brother," Xaldrius statement made me ashamed of myself. I don't know if I'm just selfish or I'm slowly becoming a monster.

I released a deep sigh. "Your speech burns my ears," I utter and gave him a smirk. "A minute would be a great warm up," I added and that made Xaldrius smile over ears.

We continue walking, following the woman's path, hiding ourselves in the shadows of the dark. We don't know where she's heading, but I guess home.

I stopped from walking when Xaldrius blocked his hands on my body.

"What is it?" I asked his anxious and confused face. He started smelling something. He looked at the side of the alley where there are pile of trash and a dead rat beside it.

"A rat, sorry," he apologized for a mistake.

We're about to walk but he made me stop again.

"Xaldrius!" I muttered.

"It's not the rat," he said, trying to study his smell.

"What is it, Xaldrius?" I query emphatically since he's now turning serious.

"The smell...I don't know it's new to my senses. "Something's lurkin—" His words cut off when we heard the woman screamed in a distance.

We looked at each other first and then ran faster than the wind.

Now in front of astounded human beings looking at us. A thief was holding the woman on her neck, choking her.

"What the f*ck is that!?" The man spoke with eyes almost got out, can't believe what he saw.

"A vampires warm up," I said and stretched by arms.

"Screw you!" he cursed. For old age sake, I hate cursing.

"I bet you don't believe in Vampires, don't you?" I playfully asked. "Now you will." I came straight to him in speed and choke his neck. Xaldrius catch the woman.

"A sinful smell. I'll cut your throat and eat that sinful flesh, if you keep doing your atrocities," I warned and threatened him.

Suddenly, my eyes turned red, waking the monster inside me, when a scent of blood entered my nose. I turned my gaze into the woman that my brother is holding. Xaldrius is out of this world, he's left dumbfounded staring deeply at the woman's mesmerizing beauty.

My attention focused on the drip of blood on her hands.

I throw the man at the trash bins, the thief limped off. I'm about to get to her but a rumbling sound-waves enveloped our ears. We looked at the sky where the sound waves came from but a magical white lightning almost blinded our vision that it made us cover our eyes.

The wind of dust circling around and the ground shaken due to its landfall. An anonymous creature's ingress and descended from the night sky.

When the lights slowly vanished our sight. Our eyes vision a... woman?"

Wearing a black overcoat suit with a hoodie, a sandal with cross laces. I assured she's a woman. Her face hides in the shadow of her hoodie but her skin is like crystal gems sparkling.

The woman spoke with euphonic voice, "Hundred years have pass and finally our paths have crossed. I've waited for this day to come...to meet my duels."

My eyes widened the moment I heard it. Who is this anonymous creature?
