Chapter 5 - Peaceful arc: A challenge for the officer seat.

After the successful completion of mission, I gained a little respect among my squad members. I had killed a total of 17 hollows till date and completed a total of 28 missions without fail, mostly because a failed mission is death. While I was on the top coming to paper works. It was an above average record.

Comparing to Aizen who even when kept a low profile has done nearly 1420 missions by the time he was promoted to a captain, while the number of missions completed by other standard 20th seat officer was in between 20 to 50 mission, and some people have none, like Gin, Aizen, etc because they were recruited as a seated officer directly after their graduation.

But the recognition you get when you are a seated officer is on a whole different level.

I was living casually when suddenly I was challenged.

"20th seat, Kozuki Aryan I kawakami Norifumi challenge you for the 20th seat" this person literally shouted in front of the whole squad.

"Who is this person, he dared to challenge the 20th seat, even though 20th seat is not known for fighting he is still a seated officer" people started to murmur.

"I know that guy, he is from kusajishi district. I heard he joined the seireitei to show that he is strong, but got defeated by the 20th seat of 11th squad. After that he joined our squad because most of us are with scholar background." "If he defeats the 20th seat then it will prove that we are weaker than 11th squad".

"I want to have an actual fighting challenge not some puzzles or games" this norifumi guy said with full confidence.

"Alright the 20th seat accepts the challenge, the fight will be next week at the general training field" the one who spoke was Gin, who knows how he appeared so silently.

"Lieutenant Gin, greetings" I said, as everyone followed.

"Everyone don't be so formal, this is nice way to get rid of some boredom. I will officially be the referee of this match" Gin said.

Like this I am going to fight for my officer seat on the line, without even getting a chance to speak on it.

"Kyoko this is very unfair I was not even given a chance to speak before that selfish gin agreed on my place. I don't want to fight" I said while crying on kyoko's smooth laps.

"Don't worry you are stronger than you think, you can probably win" Kyoko said while trying her best to support me.

"Even you are not sure of my victory" I cried more, complained some more.

"Don't be a p**** and win it" she suddenly hit me on my head causing a big bump to form on my head.

Deciding to face this challenge I secretly investigated this nawakami guys. But the result was against me, this guy has already awakened his zanpakuto, on good part he has not went to shino academy so he has zero knowledge on kido. But his combat ability was good enough to cover his weaknesses. His spiritual pressure was already on the level of seated officer.

Life is so unfair, I was reincarnated but I don't have the high spiritual power. I can only slowly increase my spiritual power, just imagining my future makes me sad. Without captain level spiritual energy I cannot survive in the future.

And this idiot had to have such gift, in few decade he should be at a lieutenant level if he trains hard.

'I have to find a method to increase my spiritual pressure to captain level as soon as possible'.

'Before that I have to defeat this idiot first'

Making up my mind I approached Gin.

"Lieutenant Gin Ichimaru, please take responsibility" I shouted and made him spill his tea. "Ouch, who is it. 20th seat arya why are you here" gin said.

"Please take responsibility and teach me how to defeat him. I have no chance of winning as of now" I said.

"My my, you are a seated officer you can definitely win" gin said with his signature teasing smile.

"You train me, or I will complain to captain aizen" I said since it is the only thing I can do.

"Sigh, ok but what do you want me to train you about" he asked, "I think sparing with me to let me gain combat experience should be enough to defeat him" I said I had already made up my mind before coming here.

"Be careful, I will not go easy on you" Gin said as he suddenly used his spiritual power to suppress me.

I was barely able to stand, while resisting his spiritual pressure.

"I see you did improve a little" Gin said.

For next few days gin and I had constant fights, as I had took a special leave for the fight while gin did not care about things like leaves.

Gin would beat me up till I was left to the point I cannot even be able to move an inch. I was gin's new toy; he toyed with me till he was satisfied before giving me rest.

But I saw my improvements; I was finally able to have a solid hit on gin on the last day most satisfying moment.

"My my he is really improving a lot faster than others; don't you think so lord Aizen" Gin spoke as aizen silently appeared beside gin.

"It seems a person really improves when they have something to protect. Even if it is as simple as their pride" Aizen said.

"He will become a nice specimen in the future; I want to see how much he can rise up without his zanpakuto. That hollow was really a failure, in the future I should make another hollow with similar abilities" Aizen said, while watching the soundly sleeping aryan.

Finally the day of the challenge came.

"Well the match will be between 20th seat Kozuki aryan and the new member Kawakami Norifumi. The match will be over when one side is unable to fight" Gin announced, there were few members who wanted to watch the match, and others who wanted to gamble a little.

"The reward for winning will be 20th seat officer position of fifth squad" gin said.

"One minute, I already have the post. So please give me another reward" I suddenly asked.

"What do you want" Nawakami asked arrogantly.

"What can you give" I asked, irritating him a little. "I'll serve you for one month, if I lose" he said.

"Ok, then let's start the fight" gin again spoke in my place.

Kawakami attacked in split second, which I dodged. We had a few clashes and we were about equal in close combat.

"You are strong as expected of a 20th seat" Kawakami said and suddenly he made a weird stance.

"Slow them down Kitsuene" He shouted, as his sword changed form and become a weird hand knuckle with two sharp spikes on its ends.

"Hado #4 byakurai"

I attacked him in the time he activated his shikai, "Noro noro beam" a beam came out and stuck the kido.

The kido become very slow, and kawakami easily dodged it.

"Be amazed by my powers, I can slow down anything the beam of my zanpakuto hits" kawakami said.

I felt shocked and then happy, I had not expected to see this attack. I was familiar with this attack.

I wanted to check if this is truly the ability I thought.

"Bakudo #4 Hainawa"

"Its use less, noro noro beam" the kido slowed down visibly.

'There is no mistake it is really noro noro no mi ability. This guy must be a low ranked one who took the exam'.

I suddenly got a lot more confident; I already had a plan. I rushed at him with full power and slashed my sword at him.

"Fool, Noro noro beam"

"Bakudo #1 Sai"

Kawakami was suddenly stunned in his position, he was caught off guard. Since he had no kido experience he tried to use brute force, but I was not weak enough to lose to someone of his level in kido.

Kawakami watched in his horror as I slashed at him in slow motion, while closing his eyes for the inevitable pain and loss.

"Winner Kozuki aryan" Gin announced as he had already moved kawakami to a safe distance. Aryan went back to normal, and his sword hit the floor causing a pit to form because of the impact, scaring kawakami even more.

"Be ready to serve me well kawakami norifumi" I said with an evil grin.
