Chapter 08:

" I wonder who is the person she'd like to defeat." Keisuke asked while walking.

" She said it's a secret so I guess we're not supposed to pry into her life anymore." Makino replied.

" Well it's not like a weapon like that can kill a person." Narukami lifted the magnifying glass and looked through it at the sun." My eyesss!!! My eyes!!!" He burnt his eyes.

" Idiot." I looked at him trying to wipe his eyes with a tissue.

That lab girl was pretty weird. I do understand there are some people who you hate so much that makes you want to wipe them off the surface of earth. But this was too much. The other thing that bothered me was the lab guy. He seemed calm at first, but when he said he was gonna exterminate us....he wasn't joking.

The recess bell rang and we went back to our classes. Again, class was boring. Trying to keep your eyes open is pretty hard. Hitomi sensei saw me dozing off and told me to stand out. Sheesh, these guys don't show mercy.

" Well time to go exploring" Somehow all the dizziness I felt in class washed away. Looks like I really don't like studying.

I went down to the gymnasium and there was a class playing there. So I couldn't join them. So I walked back to my school building and climbed upstairs. I passed the second years classes and finally reached the science club. Suddenly I heard a loud noise. I went closer to the door and peeped in. It was Haruno. She was using the weapon and was firing at cans. Was she skipping class too? I felt satisfied to find a partner in crime.

She took a few metal ball bearings and pulled out a shelf like thing from the weapon and tossed them in. She stood behind the cyclone and fired it.

BOOOOM

The can remained in the same place probably because it was glued to ground but the astonishing thing was that there was a hole through it now.

" Wasn't that thing just firing air in the morning? So she modified it in such a short period or was she hiding a bit more from us. If she uses this weapon, the word defeat would sound childish. This thing can actually kill a person." I thought to myself.

HISSSSSS

I felt my danger sense tingle my right shoulder and immediately caught a person's hand. It was Akira.

" You should've looked back if you knew I was coming." He said while fixing his lab goggles.

" Uh sure...." I had no idea that he was behind me. That's one of the setbacks of my danger sensor. I can only react to dangers that are at least 15 cm away from me. I have to make up for the other dangers using my hearing and sight.

" So....what are you doing here exactly?" He asked me with a smile. It wasn't an honest smile but a smile with a murderous intent behind it. I backed away a little.

" No nothing, skipping class I guess. I bet you're doing the same thing."

" Well I have permission to be out here. By the way, did you happen to see what was happening inside the lab room?"

"..... What if my answer's yes?"

He put his hand in his pocket and threw something. My danger sense showed up at my forehead and I bent my whole body backwards. The thing he threw got stuck onto the wall and I looked back to see what it was and was surprised to find a small blade.

" Was it supposed to be a secret? The weapon? There's no reason for you to kill me just because I saw your toy gun."

" Hahahaha, toy gun? You know damn well that a toy gun can't make holes in solid objects. And who said I'm going to kill you? I was gonna torture you and make you forget it all."

" You're one crazy guy".

He threw another few small knives and I dodged it again. He put his hands in his pocket again. I took the chance and ran to the stairs through the corridor. My danger sense was showing up on my back this time. I dived onto the ground like a volleyball receive and slid like a penguin all the way to the stairs.

Dug dug dug dug dug

I went downstairs with my front body on the ground.

" Ow ow ow ow...." This is something you should never try at home.

" Interesting fellow. He dodged my knives without even seeing. Is his hearing sense that sharp? Or is he a battle genius?" Akira looked at me sliding down the stairs.

" Yeah he's definitely not a battle genius."

I regained my position and started running. There was some kind of pleasure rising up in my body. I know that I'm being chased by a freaking knife throwing maniac, but this almost felt like hide and seek. The sides of my mouths curved and I realized I was grinning. This feeling....it made me feel young once again. I looked back and saw that Akira was still after me.

" Oye, it's not exactly my fault that I saw the weapon. You guys didn't close the door properly. I won't speak of this to anyone, so can you lower your knives and slow down a bit??" I looked at my watch and saw that the period was about to end.

" And the period's about to end. If I'm not in front of the classroom, I'll probably get in a bigger trouble."

He showed no sign of stopping and the worst thing was that the bell rang. I was about 20 metres away from the classroom. Hitomi sensei touched the doorknob and I slid by putting a sudden brake. Then this fool Akira decided to throw the knives.

" Shit" Yelled Akira who realized his mistake too late.

Hitomi sensei came out and I immediately stood in front of her and tightened my back and put my hand on the back of my head which was going haywire with my black sensor.

SHKK SHKK SHKK

Two knives pierced through right shoulder blade and one through my palm. I stood in a weird position and it looked like I was gonna hit on my teacher.

" Why the hell are you sweating and standing like that?"

" No reason. I guess it's a bit hot?"

The wounds on the back were hurting like hell. I gritted my teeth and sensei walked away. Akira came closer and I faced him. I then resolved and told myself that if he's ready to kill, then he should also be prepared get killed too.

" Get ready." I pulled out the knives from my body.

" Was ready before you were born." He put his hands in his pocket and took out a few knives.

" Does he ever run out of knives???"

He leaped forward and I did the same. Suddenly a girl came between us and we stopped.

" You can stop, please. There's no reason for you to go this far just because he's seen something." It was Haruno.

" Haruno...." Akira put his knives back and continued," Well he will be fine if he goes and encounters 'it'."

" Sigh....You remember what happened the last time when Hachi from the second year went to investigate about it?"

" That's why I attacked Sugawara. It was a bit of a test too."

What were these people talking about? What is 'it'? When will they help me stop the blood flowing out of my body.

Makino came out if the classroom and gasped. She took out a cloth immediately and said

"What is up with all this bleeding??" She wiped the blood and Akira spoke.

" My bad"

My bad? That's all I get for almost getting killed? Well I had a little fun, but that's not the matter. Akira put his hand on my shoulder and said

"I will explain everything to you. But first let's get you treated."
