Black Blood Mage

Stealing mushrooms and drinking urine is the only way many in the underground and Demon-controlled city of Adonia know how to live. In such a world, how could anyone–much less a young boy no older than five-years-old–survive?

'How many people are going to call me their son?'

This was the third person to do so. The first was a Beastman, the second a human, and now a Demon. What's next, a Stony Cow?

As we neared the side of the tunnel, I seemed to forget all of my rage and that this was a Demon–the type of being I was supposed to hate.

"Here we go…"

We stopped in front of… a wall. There was nothing there.

"What do you mean, here we go?"

As soon as I said this, Kreechur pulled some sort of device out of his large bag, aiming it towards the wall in front of us, and pressing one of the buttons on it.

The wall then proceeded to lift up and move backwards and upwards, sitting up against the ceiling of the now exposed entranceway.

He dragged me along into the newly created passage, the door closing behind us with another press of the button.

We entered into what looked like just a scaled down version of the massive tunnel we just came from with some sort of doorway at the end of it.

The door had some sort of box with nine buttons on the side of it, and after Kreechur pressed some of them in a certain pattern, the door made a click, and we walked through.

The room on the other side was impressive, to say the least. It was a rectangular shaped room with small containers placed along the walls on shelves.

In the center of the room was a large table covered in dried blood of all colors, with large tanks filled with water on one side of the room.

"This is where you were made."

Releasing my hand, Kreechur opened his arms out in front of him, proud of this room of his.

"This is my lab. It's where I do all of my experiments."

Supposedly, this is where I was made. But what exactly did that mean? It seems he showed this to me to try and bring my memories back, but all I got was a strange feeling in my left hand.

"Sorry. I don't remember anything before meeting Donovan. I've never seen this place before."

Kreechur turned back to look at me, his face scrunched into a contemplative expression… I think.

"Aha! I know just the thing."

He walked towards the shelves, muttering to himself as his limbs extended, making him taller and improving his reach, allowing him to grab five containers.

He removed the contents of the containers into a large vat of water so quickly that I couldn't even tell what they were.

After mixing the ingredients up, he handed me a cup that was filled with some sort of chunky brown liquid, gesturing for me to drink it.

In one quick motion, I downed the whole glass, the terrible taste nearly forcing it back up as I stumbled around, trying to grab onto something to keep my balance from the sudden dizziness.
