Chapter 1

Eva dragged a large suitcase and stood in front of a door. The door had a high-tech palmprint lock, but she didn't think much of it and reached out to touch it, expecting to hear a beep and the door would open.

To her surprise, the door didn't budge at all, leaving her puzzled. She kicked the door, but it barely moved.

Confused, she pressed the doorbell and waited impatiently. Growing impatient, she shouted, "Max, open the door!"

Even if someone was inside the apartment, the soundproofing was excellent, and there was no way they could hear her.

Eva pouted and muttered, "Is that jerk not home?"

Checking the time, it was already 11 PM. Being out so late, Max must be fooling around outside.

Hmph, that annoying Max!

Eva sighed and reluctantly called Max's mother. Perhaps Max's mother was already asleep because it took a while for her to answer.

Once connected, Eva said, "Max's mother, didn't you set up my access? I can't open the door, and that guy Max is not home!"

Max's mother apologized, "I'm sorry, dear. I forgot to tell you that Max's apartment doesn't even have my palmprint registered. He said nobody should have access except him. You'll have to figure it out yourself. Call him and ask him to come back and open the door for you."

Breathing heavily upon hearing Max's mother's voice, Eva hung up the phone without much thought. "Well then, goodnight, Max's mother."

She dialed Max's phone number and called him. It had been quite a while since they had seen each other, and she wondered if he would even remember her voice.

After a few rings, he finally answered.

Eva immediately yelled at him, "Max! Where the hell are you fooling around? I'm back in the country, and I'm standing outside your apartment. Hurry up and come open the door for me!"

However, the voice on the other end was not Max's but a stranger's voice. "You're looking for Max? He's busy right now. Call back later."

With that, the call was abruptly ended.

Eva stared at her phone for a moment, unable to believe that her call had been hung up.

Anger surged through her veins.

Clearly, the person who just answered the phone was Max's lackey. How dare a lackey bully her?

------------

On the other side, inside a private room at a bar.

Max was drinking with someone, and a beautiful girl leaned against him, intimately holding his hand. "Max, are you drunk?"

This time, Max had won, and the other person obediently downed their drink before rushing to the restroom to throw up.

Max sneered, feeling a bit tipsy himself as he leaned back on the sofa.

Emily gazed at his handsome and mischievous face, unable to resist, she moved closer, placing her hands on his chest, feeling his well-defined muscles. She became even more infatuated with his charm.

A man as perfect as Max was hard to come by. She had to capture his heart firmly so that she could rise like a phoenix.

Her gaze fixed on his sexy lips, her heart fluttering, she slowly leaned in, intending to kiss him.

It was said that countless women had been with Max, but none had ever received his kiss. It was rumored that whoever could make him kiss her would be his destined soulmate.
