Chapter 10: Unraveling Truths

There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, and Emily held her breath, waiting for Alexander's response. 

"Of course," he said finally, his voice tinged with concern. "I'll come over right away."

For a long moment, Alexander said nothing, his gaze fixed on Emily's with an intensity that made her heart race. And then, finally, he spoke, his voice low and measured.
